Appearance: Dark Amber
Nose: Caramel, dry oak, vanilla, cinnamon, baking spice, light fruits, apricot, peach, dark cherry, citrus
Palate: Smooth honey and rich caramel, vanilla, toasted oak, rye spice, light fruits, black pepper
Finish: Long smooth finish – leaves you with a sweet caramel and citrus fruit notes with a lingering rye spice and black pepper
Is Crown Royal 18 Year an Approachable Whisky?
Crown Royal 18 Year is very approachable.
This pour drinks very smoothly and is full of sweet honey and caramel flavors, light fruits, and vanilla.
Aside from the price, this is a very inviting whiskey for both beginners and experienced whiskey drinkers.
Is Crown Royal 18 Year Complex?
Crown Royal has a few layers of flavors to it.
It starts sweet and fruity with oak and vanilla, but then it turns to a little rye spice and black pepper on the finish.
What are Crown Royal 18 Year’s strongest attributes/flavors?
Crown Royal 18 Year is extremely smooth.
Even though it has a fairly long finish on it, it doesn’t have any heat at all.
Is Crown Royal 18 Year a go-to whisky?
Crown Royal 18 Year is a bit pricey at the $150 price point so this is a bottle I would reserve for special occasions.
While it is very easy to drink, there are other whiskeys I would prefer at this price range including the Crown Royal Barley Edition that I recently reviewed which is half the price.
Is Crown Royal 18 Year priced accurately to its quality?
Crown Royal 18 Year is priced a bit high for what it delivers.
While it is extremely smooth and has a nice finish to it, there are many other whiskies that are cheaper and give you more bang for your buck like Glenlivet 15 Year, New Riff Single Barrel Bourbon, or Dalmore Sherry Cask.
Conclusion for Crown Royal 18 Year
Crown Royal 18 Year didn’t live up to my expectations overall.
While it is a very smooth and balanced pour, I prefer other Crown Royal offerings over this one.
