Is Dalmore 12 Year Sherry Cask Select an Approachable Whisky?

Dalmore 12 Year Sherry Cask is a very easy whiskey to drink. While it does have a tiny bit of heat on the finish, the oily mouthfeel makes you feel like this is a non-chill filtered whiskey, but it’s not.

This whiskey will be easy to drink for beginner whiskey drinkers but offers a lot of complexity that experienced whiskey drinkers will appreciate.

Is Dalmore 12 Year Sherry Cask Select Complex?

Dalmore 12 Year Sherry Cask Select has quite a few layers of flavor.

It starts with big and bold dark fruits like cherries, plums, and raisins. It reminds me of a nice Shiraz wine in how fruit-forward it is.

After the wave of sweet fruit flavors washes over your taste buds, it then follows up with oak, vanilla, and more earthy notes.

Then it comes around with a more orange citrus finish with a bit of peppercorn spice to it that leaves your mouth coated with a nice oily mouthfeel.

What are Dalmore 12 Year Sherry Cask Select’s strongest attributes/flavors?

The bold fruit flavors stand out the most in this well-balanced whiskey. Even though you get such strong fruit flavors, it is complemented nicely by the bits of oak, vanilla, and cinnamon flavors and rounds out nicely with the peppercorn and citrus finish.

Is Dalmore 12 Year Sherry Cask Select a go-to whisky?

The price tag on the Dalmore 12 Year Sherry Cask Select is a little steep to be a go-to whiskey. This is more of a bottle that I would pull out for special occasions or if I have guests over who like the more fruity wines and are looking for a new favorite whiskey.

Is Dalmore 12 Year Sherry Cask Select priced accurately to its quality?

I think the Dalmore 12 Year Sherry Cask Select delivers on its price tag. I am not disappointed with what this bottle delivered.

The extra $15 is worth it over the standard Dalmore 12 Year because the Sherry Cask Select had a much nicer finish and left you with a rewarding oily mouthfeel after each sip.

Conclusion for Dalmore 12 Year Sherry Cask Select

If you’re looking for a nice treat the Dalmore 12 Year Sherry Cask Select is worth the purchase. While there are plenty of other Scotch options out there at this similar price range, Dalmore truly does offer a unique tasting experience with its bold fruit flavors and dessert-like qualities.

It would be a perfect choice for a pour after a nice dinner party meal.
