Is Maker’s Mark French Oaked No 46 an Approachable Whisky?

Maker’s Mark No 46 is an approachable whisky with a smooth, easy finish.

It also packs a lot of your traditional bourbon flavors and makes this an excellent choice to share with beginners to bourbon.

Is Maker’s Mark French Oaked No 46 Complex?

Maker’s Mark French Oaked No. 46 has a few layers of complexity to it.

It starts with your typical caramel, vanilla, and oak notes, but then has an extra layer of oak to the mix after being aged with 10 French Oak Staves in the mix.

You can really sense the additional oak compared to both the original Maker’s Mark as well as the Maker’s Mark Limited Release 101.

What are Maker’s Mark French Oaked No 46’s strongest attributes/flavors?

Maker’s Mark No 46’s strongest attribute is the amount of oak and wood notes you get in the whiskey.

You can really sense the additional flavors on the finish and it lingers a bit longer than your normal Maker’s Mark pours.

Is Maker’s Mark French Oaked No 46 a go-to whisky?

Maker’s Mark French Oaked No. 46 is a solid whisky.

I can certainly appreciate the additional oak flavors that come from the French Oak Staves.

However, I don’t think this would be my go-to whisky just for the fact that I prefer the sweeter notes of standard Maker’s Mark over the additional oak.

Is Maker’s Mark French Oaked No 46 priced accurately to its quality?

I think Maker’s Mark Fench Oaked No. 46 is a wee-bit overpriced for its quality.

I recently reviewed both the Maker’s Mark standard bottle and the Maker’s Mark Limited Release 101 and I think I prefer both of those bottles to this one and for $10 and $5 cheaper, respectively.

Conclusion for Maker’s Mark French Oaked No 46

Maker’s Mark French Oaked No. 46 is a tasty whiskey. It’s easy to drink and offers a lot of nice flavors.

But if you have the choice, I would probably just go with the standard Maker’s Mark unless you really like the taste of oak in your whisky.
