Crown Royal Vanilla Whisky Tasting Notes

Appearance: Dark Amber

Nose: Lots of vanilla, butterscotch, candy caramel, baking spice, cinnamon, reminds me of whipped cream

Palate: Sweet caramel, butterscotch, vanilla, reminds me of caramel cream candies, hints of spices, oak, and an odd ethanol alcohol flavor

Finish: Medium finish with a little bit of heat for a flavored whiskey – leaves you with a lot of vanilla and caramel on the palate with an odd spice and alcohol flavor on the tail end

Where Does Crown Royal Vanilla Get Its Vanilla Flavor?

Crown Royal Vanilla gets its flavor from being infused with the rich flavor of Madagascar Bourbon Vanilla.

From the back of the box:

To create this extraordinary blend, Crown Royal whiskies are carefully selected by our master blender and infused with the rich flavor of Madagascar Bourbon Vanilla.

The result is a uniquely sophisticated whisky, bursting with the bold flavor of vanilla and the distinctive smoothness of Crown Royal.

Enjoy straight, on the rock or in a cocktail for a uniquely smooth experience.

Is Crown Royal Vanilla an Approachable Whisky?

Crown Royal is an easy enough whisky to drink, but it’s not a whisky I’d want to drink straight.

I would assume most people would drink this whisky in a cocktail as a unique flavor twist on a traditional old-fashioned or something they’d want to add a light vanilla twist to.

Is Crown Royal Vanilla Complex?

Crown Royal is a little complex compared to other flavored whiskeys in that it still tastes like a whisky.

Since this bottle is created by infusing standard Crown Royal whisky with Madagascar Vanilla, it still retains much of the original whisky flavor with vanilla infused on top of it.

With that being said, I’d still probably just have regular Crown Royal or even the Crown Royal Peach which is much smoother than this pour.

What are Crown Royal Vanillas strongest attributes/flavors?

Crown Royal Vanilla’s strongest attribute is that it is real whisky infused with natural flavors.

Is Crown Royal Vanilla a go-to whisky?

Crown Royal Vanilla would be a whisky that you could mix into a Coca-Cola to make a Vanilla Whisky and Coke mixed drink, but this isn’t a whisky I’d be drinking straight on a regular basis.

Is Crown Royal Vanilla priced accurately to its quality?

Crown Royal Vanilla is not worth the money unless you really enjoy whisky and cokes. The vanilla adds a nice flavor to the mixed drink.

As for drinking this whisky straight, I just wouldn’t really recommend it.

Conclusion for Crown Royal Vanilla

Crown Royal Vanilla just isn’t really for me.

I can appreciate the use in a mixed drink, but I generally judge my whiskeys as a straight pour and this is just one that I wouldn’t ever pour for myself.

I’ll likely use the rest of this bottle when I have friends over and we’ll make some whiskey and cokes and it’ll taste just fine.

That being said, I do highly recommend the Crown Royal Peach and the Crown Royal Barley Edition (if you can find it).

The Crown Royal Peach is one of the best flavored whiskeys I’ve ever tasted.

The Crown Royal Barley Edition is a special edition whisky from Crown Royal that was absolutely delicious.
