Palate: Rich caramel, major fruit, lots of oaky tannic spice, earthy rye spice, tobacco, leather

Is Blackened x Rabbit Hole an Approachable Whiskey?

Blackened x Rabbit Hole is a big and bold whiskey.

This one will be very hot for beginners and may even be a bit hot and spicy for experienced whiskey drinkers.

I was a huge fan of the Blackened x Wes Henderson Whiskey and was very excited for this release.

And while this whiskey is still good, it doesn’t compare to last year’s release for me.

Is Blackened x Rabbit Hole Complex?

Blackened x Rabbit Hole Whiskey is a little one-dimensional for me.

It’s extremely hot on the palate and while it does have some really nice fruit and spice flavors, much of it gets overwhelmed by the amount of heat that I experience on each sip.

What are Blackened x Rabbit Hole’s strongest attributes/flavors?

Blackened x Rabbit Hole’s strongest attribute is the extremely long finish.

After each sip, you will feel your entire mouth coated with a buttery and oily mouthfeel that carries the flavor through for at least 60 seconds.

Is Blackened x Rabbit Hole a go-to whiskey?

Blackened x Rabbit Hole Bourbon is a bit hot for my taste and is a whiskey that I wouldn’t want to drink regularly.

With that being said, if I’m in the mood for a big heavy-hitter whiskey, this would be a perfect pour after a long day of work.

Is Blackened x Rabbit Hole priced accurately to its quality?

I was a huge fan of the Blackened x Wes Henderson Whiskey which cost $125 and this bottle is a $25 increase in price.

Overall, I can’t justify paying the extra $25 for this bottle because I enjoyed the Blackened x Wes Henderson bottle a ton more.

I’d even suggest the regular Blackened Cask Strength Volume 4 over this bottle.

Conclusion for Blackened x Rabbit Hole

I’m a little bit disappointed by this bottle because I absolutely love the Blackened x Wes Henderson whiskey which was one of my favorite bottles of 2022.

I ordered 1 bottle of this Blackened x Rabbit Hole and I’m glad I didn’t order a second.

I try to steer you all in the right direction and I just can’t get behind this bottle at the $150 price tag.

If you can find this bottle at $75, I think that is worth it but otherwise, I would just buy the Blackened Cask Strength Volume 4 which costs $70 MSRP.

I’ll continue to purchase the Blackened special releases in hopes that they strike magic again like with Wes Henderson, so keep an eye out each year for the reviews.
