Is Heaven Hill – Grain to Glass Bourbon an Approachable Whiskey?

Heaven Hill’s Grain to Glass Bourbon has quite a bit of heat to it!

I was a little surprised at how spicy this one is, but seeing as it is 35% rye grain it makes sense.

It’s full of bold flavors that really allow the grain to shine through.

Is Heaven Hill – Grain to Glass Bourbon Complex?

Heaven Hill’s Grain to Glass Bourbon has quite a few layers of complexity to it.

The rye grain really shines through with a nice kick of bold spice and earthy, peppery notes.

Once the spice subsides, you get a pleasant sweetness that is a mix of honey and caramel that pairs with some toasted oak notes on the end.

It has a medium finish that retains a lot of the rye spice flavors paired with a bit of sweetness and a lingering toasted oak.

What are Heaven Hill – Grain to Glass Bourbon’s strongest attributes/flavors?

Heaven Hill’s Grain to Glass Bourbon’s strongest attributes are it’s bold grain flavors.

Your taste buds are met with a rich rye spice right off the bat then followed up by an interesting combination of sweet honey, caramel, earthy notes, and toasted oak.

I can see why this series is titled Grain to Glass because that is exactly what it delivers.

Is Heaven Hill – Grain to Glass Bourbon a go-to whiskey?

Heaven Hill’s Grain to Glass Bourbon is a limited release bottle so this is one I’ll reserve for special occasions.

It has a very distinct flavor to it that I will certainly be sharing with friends that I know enjoy high-rye bourbons or rye whiskey.

Is Heaven Hill – Grain to Glass Bourbon priced accurately to its quality?

I can certainly appreciate the unique flavors in this release of Grain to Glass Bourbon from Heaven Hill, but it’s not a whiskey I would generally drink on a regular basis.

I enjoy the bold rye flavors and earthy notes, but it’s a bit rough around the edges for me.

I would feel a bit more comfortable if this bottle were in the $60-70 price range.

Conclusion for Heaven Hill – Grain to Glass Bourbon Whiskey

I picked up all three of Heaven Hill’s Grain to Glass whiskeys, so this is the first I’m reviewing.

I will also review the Heaven Hill Grain to Glass Wheated Bourbon and Heaven Hill Grain to Glass Rye Whiskey, so be sure to check those out to see which of the three is my favorite.

Overall, I think this bottle of Heaven Hill Grain to Glass Bourbon is jam-packed full of flavor and certainly offers a bold expression of exactly what the bottle advertises to deliver – a bold expression that puts the grain and corn seed front and center for every one of your taste buds to experience!

This Grain to Glass Bourbon delivers a rich experience full of rye grain and rye spice flavor notes followed by the sweeter honey-like flavors from the Beck’s 6158 corn mash.

It’s aged quite nicely as well to give it a balance of toasted oak without the oak being too dominant.
