Is Weller Special Reserve an Approachable Whiskey?

Weller Special Reserve is an extremely easy whiskey to drink.

It has very little heat and goes down quite smoothly.

This is an excellent whiskey for beginners and offers a lot of flavor for how smooth it is.

Is Weller Special Reserve Complex?

Weller Special Reserve has a lot of complexity and flavor for how smoothly it drinks.

It’s a sweet and fruity whiskey built on the flavor profile of corn, wheat, and malted barley.

As I smell the whiskey, I can definitely smell some similarities to whiskeys like Buffalo Trace and Pappy Van Winkle.

While not as crisp and clean as the Pappy, it does still have some really unique fruit notes that shine through on the nose and on the palate.

It’s also got a grain-heavy note on the nose that isn’t quite as bold on the palate.

The flavor is full of caramel, toasted oak, wheated grain notes, and light fruits.

On the tail end, you start to get a bit of cinnamon spice followed by a tiny bit of pepper on the tail end.

For how smoothly this pour drinks, it has a surprisingly nice finish that is both full of flavor and also coats your mouth for a while.

What are Weller Special Reserve’s strongest attributes/flavors?

Weller Special Reserve’s strongest attribute is how easy it is to drink.

It’s extremely smooth.

Is Weller Special Reserve a go-to whiskey?

Weller Special Reserve could easily be a go-to whiskey.

If I were able to find this bottle more easily here in Pennsylvania (which is basically never) I would buy this one often.

The only way I can get this bottle is to drive to the neighboring state of Ohio and hope I get there before it all sells out.

Is Weller Special Reserve priced accurately to its quality?

Weller Special Reserve is an excellent deal if you can get it at MSRP.

It definitely delivers on its price tag.

Conclusion for Weller Special Reserve Wheated Bourbon

Weller Special Reserve Bourbon is a whiskey I wish I could find more often.

Since it is hard for me to find in my area, I generally reserve this one for special occasions when I’m looking for a relaxing and easy pour that is full of comforting flavors.

As I’m finishing this review, it’s making me want to find another bottle or two of this so I can drink it a little more often!

If you see this one on the shelf, definitely pick it up if you can get it for MSRP price.
