The pour is full of nicely balanced peat flavors but it isn’t overpowering.
You still get the smooth and sweet notes of bourbon with a nice balance of peat that gives you almost a blend between a typical bourbon and a smoked, peated Scotch.

I think Liberty Pole’s Peated Bourbon’s strongest attribute is that it is quite smooth to drink. There is little to no heat to it and is a drink that almost anyone can handle.

Liberty Pole Peated Bourbon is a whiskey that you will enjoy if you’re a fan of bourbon and looking to explore the world of Peat.
It’s not nearly as bold as Laphroaig or Ardbeg, but brings you a nice American Bourbon flavor profile with a very prominent peat profile stacked on top of it.
Is Liberty Pole Peated Bourbon priced accurately to its quality?
If you’re a fan of peaty Scotches, this bottle will satisfy your peat urges while still being an American-made whiskey.
That being said, at the $50 price point, it is pretty hard to find a well-balanced whiskey that offers a nice peat profile.
I would put this bottle in comparison with the cheaper $40-60 bottles of peated Scotch like Laphroaig 10 Year, The Big Peat, and Ardbeg.
Liberty Pole’s Peated Bourbon isn’t nearly as big and bold on the peat flavors as these Scotches, but that is kind of a nice thing.
Sometimes I want a little bit of peat without having my entire palate blown out for the rest of the night.

If you’re looking for an American-made whiskey that offers a nice peat profile, Liberty Pole is in the early levels of bringing some peat to American Bourbon.
It offers a nice level of peat flavor blended with the sweet bourbon flavors from a Pennsylvania-based whiskey.
Liberty Pole has come a long way over the past few years.
I had an older bottle of Liberty Pole Peated Bourbon from 6 years ago and the bottles had only aged for 4 months back then. They have evolved nicely since then.
The distillery is growing and has recently built a new bourbon campus where they can store a lot more barrels and have a larger space to serve cocktails.
I’m looking forward to seeing how they evolve over the years and how their 6-8 year bottles turn out.
