Is Liberty Pole Peated Bourbon with Orange Curacao Finish an Approachable Whiskey?
Liberty Pole Peated Bourbon with Orange Curacao Finish is a whiskey that is smooth enough for everyone to drink and could be a great introduction to peated whiskey.
Since it is not nearly as heavily peated as many of the Peated Scotch options, this could be a great bottle to try if you’re a fan of bourbon and looking to branch out into trying some peated options.
For fans of peated whiskey, this bottle should be right up your alley.
It combines the lovely American bourbon sweetness with a nicely balanced layer of peated malt barley.
Is Liberty Pole Peated Bourbon with Orange Curacao Finish Complex?
Liberty Pole Peated Bourbon is a whiskey that offers so many flavors combined into one glass.
It has quite a few layers of complexity.
To start, you have your bourbon flavors of sweet caramel, vanilla, and toasted oak.
In addition, you get a nice layer of peat that isn’t too overpowering but you will absolutely know it’s there.
Then, since the bottles are finished in Orange Curacao liqueur casks, you get nice hints of orange zest and fruit notes that mellow out the flavor profile.
While the citrus notes are subtle, it almost reminds me of orange bitters when I make an old-fashioned fashioned.
And the finish rolls out a nice layer of peppery spice to finish off the sip.
What are Liberty Pole Peated Bourbon with Orange Curacao Finish‘s strongest attributes/flavors?
The strongest attribute for this pour is the complex layering of flavors.
Regardless of whether you love or hate peated whiskey (which I love), you will appreciate the uniqueness of this bottle as it combines sweet American bourbon flavors with Scotch peated Barley and the additional citrus finish to top it all off.
Liberty Pole is really experimenting with a ton of flavors and allowing us to partake in those experiments and that is my favorite part of a bottle like this.
Is Liberty Pole Peated Bourbon with Orange Curacao Finish a go-to whiskey?
This is a one-time release bottle so I will likely reserve this bottle for special occasions or to share with friends who are looking for a unique pour.
Is Liberty Pole Peated Bourbon with Orange Curacao Finish priced accurately to its quality?
This bottle cost $75 and it is worth its price tag.
It has a nice proof point above their usual Peated Bourbon which is easily worth the additional $20.
I also love the idea of trying their unique bottles and enjoy helping to support them in their journey to grow and improve.
Conclusion for Liberty Pole Peated Bourbon with Orange Curacao Finish
Liberty Pole released with 260 bottles of this orange curacao finish and they are clear to share the release date and tell people to stand in line to get their bottles.
This is the first time I went to the distillery and waited in line and I will tell you…. it was an extremely nice experience!
Not only were they 50-100 supportive whiskey drinkers to hang out with, but Liberty Pole even had a Christmas Santa with samples available for us to try and really made the experience an enjoyable time that encourages everyone to support them and have a great time.
