Is Laphroaig Quarter Cask an Approachable Whisky?
Laphroaig Quarter Cask is an approachable whisky and a whisky for people who enjoy peaty and smokey Scotches.
The finish is non-chill filtered and may be a bit much for beginners, but most experienced whisky drinkers will really appreciate the finish and flavors on this one.
Is Laphroaig Quarter Cask Complex?
Laphroaig Quarter Casks has a few layers of depth and flavor.
Being aged in a smaller barrel, this whisky has additional levels of oak flavors.
This shines through in the levels of oaky spice and richer caramel flavors than you would normally get in a Laphroaig Scotch whisky like Laphroaig Select or Laphroaig 10 Year.
I’m a fan of oaky tannic spicy flavors, so I really enjoy this bottle.
The finish is also quite nice with a rich oily mouthfeel from being non-chill filtered.
What are Laphroaig Quarter Cask’s strongest attributes/flavors?
Laphroaig Quarter Cask’s strongest attribute is the balance of oaky spice flavors with the briny peat and smoke flavors from Laphroaig’s peated barley.
Is Laphroaig Quarter Cask a go-to whisky?
Laphroaig Quarter Cask could easily be a go-to whisky.
While it is $80, which is a pretty decent price for a peated Scotch of this level is right on par with its competitors in the space like Ardbeg and Lagavulin.
Is Laphroaig Quarter Cask priced accurately to its quality?
Laphroaig Quarter Cask delivers on its price tag.
While this bottle is $20 more than the standard Laphroaig 10 Year I would almost always spend the extra $20 to upgrade to this bottle.
I really enjoy the balance of flavors in this bottle and it has an excellent finish that is both smooth and rich.
Conclusion for Laphroaig Quarter Cask
Laphroaig Quarter Cask is an extremely delicious bottle of peated Scotch Whisky.
This would be one of my go-to whiskeys if I didn’t absolutely love the Laphroaig Lore a bit more (also costs $20 more).
Laphroaig is just one of those brands where every bottle you get from them is enjoyable and is almost always worth the money.
They offer bottles ranging from $45 with their Laphroaig Select all the way up to 25 and 30-year bottles that cost thousands of dollars.
The most I’ve ever spent on a bottle from Laphroaig has been the Laphroaig Cairdeas Warehouse 1 which was $110 and it was worth every penny.
With all the options available from Laphroaig, I can solidly say that if you have $80 and are looking for the most your money can buy from a peated Scotch, this bottle is a strong competitor.
