Is Laphroaig Cairdeas – White Port and Madeira an Approachable Whisky?

Laphroaig Cairdest White Port and Madeira edition is a whisky that you’ll either love or hate.

With most peaty Scotches, you get a nice blast of flavor right off the bat that will really wake up your taste buds.

If you like peat and smoke, you’ll probably enjoy this one.

If you’re a beginner to peat, be prepared.

Is Laphroaig Cairdeas – White Port and Madeira Complex?

This edition of Laphroaig Cairdeas has an absolutely beautiful nose to it.

As you smell this one, you get so many beautiful flavors that all complement each other extremely well.

However, when you take your first sip, the pour is extremely heavy on the peat and smoke side and you lose a lot of the nuanced flavors that are on the nose.

With that being said, this is still your typical Laphroaig bottle.

It’s full of peat and smoke just like you would expect, but with hints of fruit and spice.

What are Laphroaig Cairdeas – White Port and Madeira’s strongest attributes/flavors?

This bottle of Laphroaig Cairdeas White Port and Madeira’s strongest attribute is absolutely its nose.

I could smell this whisky for days and never tire of it.

Granted, I’m always a fan of peat and smoke, but the additional fruit notes from the white port and Madeira casks really shine through here.

Is Laphroaig Cairdeas – White Port and Madeira a go-to whisky?

Laphroaig Cairdeas is a limited-release bottle and is one that I will be reserving for special occasions and to share with friends who will appreciate it.

Is Laphroaig Cairdeas – White Port and Madeira priced accurately to its quality?

Laphroaig Cairdeas is a limited-release bottle so I didn’t mind spending the $100 on this one.

With that being said, I think Laphroaig Lore is a better bottle overall for the same price and is what I would purchase again with my $100.

Conclusion for Laphroaig Cairdeas – White Port and Madeira

I enjoy Laphroaig Cairdeas White Port and Madeira edition, but I don’t think I would buy another bottle.

If you enjoy trying unique editions of your favorite whisky distilleries like me, I’d recommend buying yourself a bottle just to experience the unique finishes on this one.

Otherwise, do yourself a favor and buy a bottle of Laphroaig Lore which is one of the best peated Scotches out there.
