Is Calumet Farm 8 Year Bourbon an Approachable Whiskey?

Calumet Farm 8 Year is a pretty approachable whiskey.

It has a bit of heat and spice on it though, so beginners may find this one a little strong.

Is Calumet Farm 8 Year Bourbon Complex?

Calumet Farm 8 Year has a few layers of flavor.

It is the cheapest bottle offered by Calumet Farm so it is not quite as complex as the Calumet 15 and 8 Year Small Batch Bourbon, but it still has some nice depth to it.

The nose starts quite sweet and full of caramel and vanilla backed by rich oak spice, rye spice, and black pepper notes.

On the palate, you get similar notes as the nose except there is a nice dark fruit layer full of black cherry and some citrus zest.

The finish is nice and leaves you with a pleasant pepper spice full of oak.

Calumet Farm 8 Year Bourbon could be a decent go-to whiskey if you like a spicy bourbon.

Is Calumet Farm 8 Year Bourbon priced accurately to its quality?

Calumet Farm 8 Year Bourbon is a little pricey for what it delivers.

Compared to its competitors in the $50 price range, there are some other options I would go with like New Riff Single Barrel Bourbon, Elijah Craig, and Woodford Reserve.

Conclusion for Calumet Farm 8 Year Bourbon

Calumet Farm 8 Year Bourbon is a good whiskey.

It has a lot of nice spice flavors paired with sweet caramel, dark fruits, vanilla, and a ton of oak for an 8 year.

I’d be a little more likely to highly recommend this one if it were a $35-40 bottle, but this one costs $50.

If I were going to spend $50 on a bottle, I would just upgrade to Calumet’s $60 bottle and go with the Calumet Farm 15 Year and 8 Year Small Batch Bourbon.
