Is Bernheim Barrel Proof Batch B923 an Approachable Whiskey?

Bernheim Barrel Proof Batch 923 is surprisingly approachable for being 60.2% ABV.

I had previously reviewed Bernheim Barrel Proof Batch A223 and that was quite bold and powerful with quite a bit of heat on the first few sips.

Batch 923 still has all of the flavors that I enjoy from Bernheim Wheated Whiskey but the flavors feel a little more balanced and a bit less heat on your palate which is a lovely improvement.

I was already a fan, but now I like Bernheim even more.

The pour will still be a bit bold for beginner whiskey drinkers, but this is quite approachable for the high ABV Barrel Proof.

Is Bernheim Barrel Proof Batch B923 Complex?

Bernheim Barrel Proof Batch B923 has quite a few layers of flavor and complexity to it.

Since this whiskey is primarily Wheat (51%) followed by 37% Corn, it is a bit sweeter than many of the bourbons you may be used to trying.

Right away, I got a ton of sweet brown sugar on the nose along with vanilla, wheat, cereal grain, and bits of citrus and fruit.

You get many of those same flavors on the palate, but they are even stronger and more enjoyable once you take a sip.

What are Bernheim Barrel Proof Batch B923’s strongest attributes/flavors?

Bernheim Barrel Proof Batch B923’s strongest attribute is the amount of sweetness it delivers alongside heavy wheat and malt flavors.

It’s hard to explain exactly what I really enjoy about this whiskey, but it is a bottle I could easily just keep pouring and not even realize that it is 60.2% ABV.

You know you have a good bottle when you find yourself just refilling your glass immediately once the first is complete.

*Note: In the case of this review, I did pour myself another glass halfway through because I drank the first one quite quickly which is always a sign of a solid bottle.

Is Bernheim Barrel Proof Batch B923 a go-to whisky?

Bernheim Barrel Proof Batch B923 would absolutely be a go-to whiskey for me.

Since this one is a limited-release bottle, I may have to stock up on one or two more so I can enjoy them till the next batch releases.

Is Bernheim Barrel Proof Batch B923 priced accurately to its quality?

Bernheim Barrel Proof Batch B923 delivers on its price tag.

With so many barrel proof bottles being released now, the nice price point seems to be right around the $60-70 price tag.

You get a huge lift in quality compared to the non-barrel-proof bottles and they are worth the extra money.

I hope the prices don’t continue to increase each batch though because the last batch was $60 and this one added $10 to the price.

If they go much higher, I’m not sure I’ll purchase each release.

Conclusion for Bernheim Barrel Proof Batch B923

Bernheim Barrel Proof Batch B923 is a delicious whiskey.

It has tons of flavor and delivers a barrel-proof experience without your mouth feeling like it’s on fire like some of the other barrel-proof bottles on the market.

This bottle is definitely worth purchasing especially since it is one of the top wheat whiskeys I have purchased recently.
