Is Barrel Bourbon – Cask Strength an Approachable Whiskey?

Barrel Bourbon Cask Strength packs quite a punch. With its 57.31% ABV, it will likely light up a beginner whiskey drinker’s taste buds. That being said, even with the heat, it is quite approachable for an experienced whiskey drinker.

Is Barrel Bourbon – Cask Strength Complex?

Barrel Bourbon – Cask Strength has quite a few layers to it. It has your basic caramel and charred oak flavors, but it has a lot that pushes it above and beyond. The biggest of those factors would be the fruit flavors I’m getting.

At times, I get notes of dark fruits like plums and cherries – almost like a sherry finish. But on the finish, I’m getting a bit more light fruits that are citrusy like lime, pear, and apricot.

Then to add another layer, I get some rye spices throughout the entire experience.

And to finish everything off, it has a lovely mouthfeel that leaves you with a lingering oily and buttery consistency.

What are Barrel Bourbon – Cask Strength’s strongest attributes/flavors?

Barrel Bourbon – Cask Strength has a lot of strong flavors and attributes. Aside from all of the complexity in flavor, I think my favorite aspect of this pour is its finish. I love a good mouthfeel and this one delivers.

Is Barrel Bourbon – Cask Strength a go-to whiskey?

At the $65 price tag, it’s hard to say this bottle could be a go-to whiskey. While I would certainly be able to drink this whiskey on a regular basis, my wallet would lead me toward more affordable options like New Riff Single Barrel and Wild Turkey 101.

Is Barrel Bourbon – Cask Strength priced accurately to its quality?

I do think Barrel Bourbon – Cask Strength is priced accurately to its quality. I feel like I got every bit of my money out of the pours from this bottle and will continue to come back to it when I feel like I need a good pick-me-up.

Conclusion for Barrel Bourbon – Cask Strength

Verdict – Definitely pick this one up if you see it. I really enjoyed it.

It’s hard to find a bottle that has a nice balance of bold flavors blended with delicate fruit notes and delivers a nice mouthfeel and finish that keeps you wanting another glass.
