Is Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel – Barrel Proof Approachable?

Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel – Barrel Proof is not a beginner’s whiskey. The amount of flavor in this one will probably blast the taste buds of a newbie whiskey drinker. Be prepared for a massive blast of both heat and flavor in this one.

Is Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel – Barrel Proof Complex?

Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel – Barrel Proof is quite complex. I was quite surprised when I tasted the Single Barrel Select vs the Gentleman Jack because the Single Barrel Select was much better. But this Single Barrel – Barrel Proof edition knocks the socks off both of the others when it comes to flavors.

Right off the bat, you get smacked in the face with the bold caramel flavors and heat that come with a barrel-proof 64.85% ABV whiskey. But each sip is worth the strong heat.

The flavor starts out with a heavy kick of caramel right away. Before you even swallow the first sip, you will feel the whiskey coat your mouth with a buttery thick mouthfeel which is quite a pleasant sensation.

You then get the next layer of flavors which are dark fruits, toasted oak, and spices. I get a little bit of rye spice flavors in this one that linger throughout the entire finish. The finish lasts for a very long time and will leave you with that buttery mouthfeel for at least 10 seconds after each sip.

What are Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel – Barrel Proof’s strongest attributes/flavors?

The strength of every flavor is Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel – Barrel Proof’s strongest attribute. It’s rare to find a whiskey that packs such an intense amount of flavor into each sip without overpowering your senses.

Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel – Barrel Proof balances the sweet and dark fruit flavors very well against the spicy char-oak barrel flavors.

Another attribute that may be this whiskeys strongest is the mouthfeel you experience with each sip. It doesn’t say on the bottle, but I would assume that this bottle is non-chill filtered. With each taste, you feel every bit of the oily qualities you’d appreciate from a non-chill filtered glass of whiskey.

Is Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel – Barrel Proof a go-to whiskey?

Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel – Barrel Proof is a whiskey that I would pull out for special occasions. If I were looking for a smooth every day drinker, I would go with a pour of Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel Select.

However, if I’m going for the best flavor and need a little extra kick… Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel – Barrel Proof is the bottle I’d reach for.

Is Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel – Barrel Proof priced accurately to its quality?

I do think Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel – Barrel Proof delivers on its price tag. For a $70 bottle, it delivers on flavor if you are looking for some depth to your whiskey.

With that being said, this is a bottle I would probably buy once every 3-6 months and enjoy a nice glass on a cold winter night or after a rough day at work when I need a swift exit from responsibility.

Overall Conclusions on Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel – Barrel Proof Whiskey

Overall, I am pleasantly surprised with my purchase of Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel – Barrel Proof. I’ve always been a fan of Jack Daniel’s No. 7 and Gentleman Jack. I’ve most certainly had my share of Jack and Coke’s in my day, so I was expecting more of the same.

But Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel – Barrel Proof delivered above and beyond my expectations. It added power behind each of its flavors and offered a level of whiskey I was unaware Jack Daniel’s offered in their higher-tier whiskeys.

I would most certainly recommend purchasing a bottle of Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel – Barrel Proof if you see it at your local shop. It should be fairly easy to find and is worth the price tag.

I hope you enjoyed this tasting experience with me.

Looks like this bottle is from Coy Hill Warehouse 08. I have a couple from 3-08 that are really good.

I got a bottle recently that is 67.55% ABV and it’s also delicious. Highest Proof I’ve seen on a bottle so far.
