Is Woodford Reserve Sonoma Triple Finishbon an Approachable Whiskey?
Woodford Reserve Sonoma Triple Finish is a very smooth and approachable whiskey.
It is full of rich fruit flavors from being finished in Sonoma County Pinot Noir Casks and Brandy Barrels.
In addition to the nice fruit notes, you get a whole ton of oaky spice and tobacco flavors with a lot more rye and pepper spice than I expected.
This is a whiskey most people will enjoy, especially if you like finished whiskeys.
Is Woodford Reserve Sonoma Triple Finish Complex?
Woodford Reserve Sonoma Triple Finish has quite a few layers of complexity and flavor to it.
Woodford Reserve bourbon is generally a very solid go-to whiskey when it comes to classic bourbon flavors, so by finishing the whiskey in Sonoma County Pinot Noir Casks and Brandy Barrels, you add an entire layer of fruit notes on top of the flavors you would normally get.
In addition to that, it is also finished in former Bourbon Barrels that were used to age red wine, so I get a bit more of the red wine tannins and oaky tannic spice than I would in your regular Woodford Reserve Bourbon.
Is Woodford Reserve Sonoma Triple Finish a go-to whiskey?
Since this is a limited edition Master’s Collection release, Woodford Reserve Sonoma Triple Finish is one I will reserve for special occasions and for when I have guests over who appreciate good red wine and are looking to try a nice whiskey.
It also cost $150 so it’s not one I will drink too quickly.
Is Woodford Reserve Sonoma Triple Finish priced accurately to its quality?
The last Master’s Collection Woodford Reserve Bourbon I purchased was the Woodford Reserve Historic Barrel Entry and it cost $120.
They have raised the price by $30 in just half a year.
So while I do think this is a very delicious bottle of bourbon, I am not sure that it delivers on the increasing price each year.
I would be much more inclined to recommend this bottle to everyone if it had a $99 price point.
Conclusion for Woodford Reserve Sonoma Triple Finish
Woodford Reserve Sonoma Triple Finish is a very nice pour of whiskey.
I am a fan of pinot noir and I also enjoy a nice glass of Brandy and I do notice these flavor profiles on this bourbon which is a nice addition to your standard Woodford flavor profile.
This is a bottle I recommend if you’re a big fan of Woodford Reserve and enjoy a nice finished bourbon.
Also, I do think this is probably my favorite pour of Woodford Reserve that I have reviewed so far.
However, at the $150 price point, I unfortunately don’t think I will be buying a backup of this one.
