Woodford Reserve Malt Whiskey is easy to drink. It has a lot of flavor and has a smooth finish.
This is definitely a whiskey that you could give to beginners to help introduce them to malt whiskeys.
Is Woodford Reserve Malt Complex?
Woodford Reserve Malt Whiskey has a few layers of flavor to it.
The nose gives you a chocolate malt and almost a smores sweetness, but it also has dark fruit, cherry, and floral notes to it.
The flavor really hits you with a nice citrus zest right off the bat and then finishes out with a bit more oak, malt, and earthy flavors.
Is Woodford Reserve Malt a go-to whiskey?
Woodford Reserve Malt Whiskey is less than $40 and goes down smoothly on each sip.
It packs enough flavor that I could see this being a daily sipper.
I personally prefer the Woodford Reserve Double Oaked most from the Woodford Reserve lineup so I would go with that, but it’s also a bit more expensive.
Is Woodford Reserve Malt priced accurately to its quality?
Woodford Reserve Malt Whiskey definitely delivers on its price tag.
For less than $40, you are getting a whiskey that is extremely smooth, packs a lot of nice flavors, and is an all-around solid whiskey.
Conclusion for Woodford Reserve Malt
Most people wouldn’t generally go with an American Malt Whiskey over bourbons and ryes, but this bottle is one to check out.
It most certainly has a very different flavor profile than you may be used to, but that is half the fun!
I’ve been noticing that some of the bigger American whiskey distilleries are starting to produce 100% American Single Malt Whiskey and I can see why.
They’re gaining popularity due to their unique flavors and while this bottle isn’t 100% Malt, I can definitely get the flavor differences compared to their other whiskeys.
