Is Thirteenth Colony Southern Bourbon an Approachable Whiskey?

Thirteenth Colony Southern Bourbon is a very approachable whiskey.

It’s very easy to drink and has some very nice dessert-like flavors to it that everyone will enjoy.

Is Thirteenth Colony Southern Bourbon Complex?

Thirteenth Colony Southern Bourbon has quite a bit of complexity to it and depth of flavor.

On both the nose and the palate, I get strong notes of red cherry and other fruit flavors.

So much so that I immediately thought of Cherry cola or even the bright red cherry bomb candies.

Not the sour ones, but the ones that are just straight red cherry flavor.

This is a very good thing as I love those candy fruit flavors in my whiskey.

Behind the fruit notes, you still get your corn sugar and caramel sweetness with a nice level of oaky tannic spice behind it.

In addition to that, you get nice rye spice and pepper notes that help create a very fulfilling flavor profile on this $40 bottle.

The only drawback I’m finding on this one is that there is a good bit of heat on each sip and it seems like it’s just not a super “refined” whiskey.

You can tell it’s not an incredibly refined bottle but for $40… it’s not really needed to be.

What are Thirteenth Colony Southern Bourbon’s strongest attributes/flavors?

Thirteenth Colony Southern Bourbon’s strongest attribute is its rich red cherry and fruit flavor notes.

I’m not sure if it’s just my palate tonight, but I am really enjoying this aspect of the whiskey.

Is Thirteenth Colony Southern Bourbon a go-to whiskey?

Thirteenth Colony Southern Bourbon isn’t available in my state of Pennsylvania, but if I could find this whiskey here I would most certainly be drinking this one regularly.

Is Thirteenth Colony Southern Bourbon priced accurately to its quality?

For $40, this bottle of Thirteenth Colony Southern Bourbon absolutely delivers on its price tag.

While it has a bit of a kick to it relative to its proof point, the flavors in it are very fun to enjoy.

Conclusion for Thirteenth Colony Southern Bourbon

Thirteenth Colony Southern Bourbon is a fun whiskey to drink.

It’s not the most refined or smooth whiskey to drink, but the flavors in it are quite delicious.

I can only imagine how good their Double-Oaked whiskey is and I’ve heard so much about it this entire year that I hope I can manage to find a bottle of it to taste and compare.

If you find this bottle on the shelf, do yourself a favor and pick it up.

I think you’ll have a lot of fun with this one.
