Is Penelope Toasted Rye an Approachable Whiskey?

Penelope Toasted Rye is a smooth rye whiskey with just enough cinnamon and rye spice to wake up your taste buds, but not too much heat to where it burns your mouth. This is a great whiskey for anyone looking to jump into a nice smooth rye whiskey.

Is Penelope Toasted Rye Series Complex?

Penelope Toasted Rye has a bit of complexity to it, but nothing that will knock your socks off.

It delivers a nicely balanced rye whiskey flavor profile with additional layers of toasted oak, caramel, and hints of citrus.

In addition, it does have notes of citrus and light fruits which add a bit of depth to the flavor profile.

The finish is smooth and easy but leaves enough flavor and texture on the palate to invite just one more sip.

What are Penelope Toasted Rye’s strongest attributes/flavors?

Penelope Toasted Rye’s strongest attributes are the traditional rye whiskey flavor profile with an additional layer of toasted oak and caramel.

Is Penelope Toasted Rye a go-to whiskey?

Penelope Toasted Rye is a well-balanced rye whiskey, but it is not a whiskey I would drink as a go-to whiskey.

I would lean a little more in the direction of the Penelope bourbons as my go-to pours and if I’m looking for a rye whiskey, I’d probably go for a pour of New Riff Single Barrel Rye.

Is Penelope Toasted Rye priced accurately to its quality?

I wish Penelope Toasted Rye was $50 instead of $70. I would be more inclined to recommend this bottle.

With that being said, I do really enjoy the Penelope Toasted Bourbon and the Penelope Architect Series which I think would be a slightly better buy than the Penelope Toasted Rye.

Conclusion for Penelope Toasted Rye

Of the entire Penelope whiskey lineup, I think the Penelope Toasted Bourbon or the Penelope Architect Series are my favorites.

I’ve always wanted to try the Penelope Toasted Rye and while I do enjoy this pour, I think the bottle is just a little pricey for what the whiskey warrants.
