Penelope Bourbon Review - Bottle Back Label - Secret Whiskey Society

Is Penelope Bourbon an Approachable Whiskey?

Penelope bourbon is pretty easy to drink. It goes down easy and would be fairly easy for a beginner whiskey fan to enjoy.

Is Penelope Bourbon Complex?

Penelope Bourbon is not particularly complex. While it doesn’t offer layers of flavor, it does have a unique taste with the four-grain profile. I can definitely notice the more grain-forward and almost hay-flavored wheat in the mash bill.

What are Penelope Bourbon’s strongest attributes/flavors?

Penelope Bourbon’s greatest attribute would be that it has a four-grain mash bill. It will give you a much different flavor than you’d get in most bourbons and if you’re a fan of the wheat, you may enjoy this one.

Is Penelope Bourbon a go-to whiskey?

Penelope Bourbon would not be a go-to whiskey of mine. While it’s relatively easy to drink, it just doesn’t offer anything special that would get me to drink it on a regular basis.

Is Penelope Bourbon priced accurately to its quality?

I think if Penelope Bourbon were $25 instead of $35, it’d be delivering right at its price point. However, at the $35 price tag, there are other bourbons I would recommend over this one like Elijah Craig, Old Forester, and Wild Turkey 101.

Conclusion for Penelope Bourbon

Overall, Penelope Bourbon is a decent whiskey. It has a unique flavor profile with the wheat in the mash bill, so if you like wheaty bourbons, give this one a shot.

If you’re interested in reading about my favorite of the Penelope lineup, I would absolutely recommend reading my Penelope Toasted Series Review and buying yourself a bottle. It’s by far my favorite of the Penelope offerings.
