Is Old Forester 1920 an Approachable Whiskey?

Is Old Forester 1920 Complex?

Old Forester 1920 has a few layers to it. At first, you get bold and powerful caramel, brown sugar, and oak flavors, but as the finish unfolds, you start getting a bit of dark fruit and it finishes with a spicy finish.

What are Old Forester 1920’s strongest attributes/flavors?

Old Forester 1920’s strongest attribute is that it packs exactly the flavors you want into a bourbon. Buttery caramel, maple syrup, and brown sugar mixed with charred oak and dark fruits. What more could you ask for?

Is Old Forester 1920 a go-to whiskey?

At the $65 price tag, I’d probably go with a cheaper Old Forest bottle as a go-to everyday sipper. While I love the Old Forester 1920 bottle, it’s one I would pour on a special occasion when I’m needing a bit more ABV and a bolder punch of flavor than I could get with a lower-tier Old Forester.

Is Old Forester 1920 priced accurately to its quality?

Old Forester 1920 steps up its flavor over the lower-tier options. Would I buy another bottle at $65… probably not.

Conclusion for Old Forester 1920

I really enjoyed this bottle of Old Forester 1920. It really hits the spot when you’re in the mood for a traditional bold bourbon. At this price point though, I would prefer a bottle of Old Forester 1910 because I think it’s a little more balanced and extremely easy to drink.

That being said, Old Forester 100 Proof is right on par with these bottles and is only $30.

Final verdict, if you’re looking for the most bang for your buck go with the Old Forester 100 Proof. If you’re looking for the best bottle in the $60 price range, I’d go with Old Forester 1910. If you want to know more, read my full Old Forester 1910 Review.
