Is Monkey Shoulder Scotch an Approachable Whisky?

Monkey Shoulder is a very approachable whisky.

It offers a lot of flavor in each pour for the price.

This is a whisky that both beginners and experienced whiskey drinkers will enjoy.

It’s also an excellent Scotch option to use in cocktails.

Is Monkey Shoulder Scotch Whisky Complex?

Monkey Shoulder Scotch Whisky surprisingly has a lot of complexity for how cheap it is.

The nose is really enjoyable with fresh tropical fruit flavors that shine through right away.

On the palate, you still get a little bit of the fruit flavors, but the sip is more full of sweet butterscotch, toasted oak, pepper, and spice flavors.

The finish is also quite enjoyable for being just a $40 bottle.

What are Monkey Shoulder Scotch Whisky’s strongest attributes/flavors?

Monkey Shoulder Scotch Whisky offers a complex flavor profile for its price.

Is Monkey Shoulder Scotch a go-to whisky?

Monkey Shoulder Scotch Whisky is the definition of a solid go-to whisky.

It’s only $40, it is full of traditional Scotch flavors and has a nice finish.

Is Monkey Shoulder Scotch Whisky priced accurately to its quality?

Monkey Shoulder Scotch Whisky delivers above its price point.

Balvenie is one of my favorite Scotches and Glenfiddich is a solid Scotch as well.

So the fact that Monkey Shoulder is a blend of these well-known popular brands is a testament to why it is so good, regardless of its price tag.

*Side Note: I’m not going to lie but I have no idea what Kininvie whisky is all about, but now that I know it’s a component of this blend, I’m inclined to explore that distillery as well.

Conclusion for Monkey Shoulder Scotch Whisky

Monkey Shoulder is a Scotch Whisky that you would expect to cost $60-70.

Not only does it deliver on traditional Scotch flavors, but it brings it to you at a price point that is well below almost all other options of Scotch on the market.

The only Scotch that I would compare at this price point would be Dewar’s 12 Year Double Aged Whisky.

If you’re looking for a cheap option on Scotch Whisky, you can’t go wrong with Monkey Shoulder.

And if you have cocktails that call for Scotch Whisky as an ingredient, Monkey Shoulder is the bottle to go with.
