Is Maker’s Mark an Approachable Whisky?

Maker’s Mark is a very approachable whisky.

It’s smooth and easy to drink so it is a great option for beginners to bourbon.

It’s made with soft red winter wheat instead of rye which gives it a bit more of a grainy flavor profile than your typical spicy rye finish.

Is Maker’s Mark Complex?

Maker’s Mark has a few layers of complexity.

It starts with a sweeter toffee, vanilla, and light oak flavor and then rounds out with nice citrus fruit notes.

The finish leaves you with just a tiny bit of spice on the finish.

What are Maker’s Mark’s strongest attributes/flavors?

While Maker’s Mark’s strongest is smooth to drink and has a nice bit of flavor to it, its strongest attribute is its trademarked red-wax-dipped bottle top.

No matter where you are, you can always spot a bottle of Maker’s Mark from across the room.

It’s an excellent marketing tactic which has worked extremely well, but the whisky really does have a nice flavor to it as well.

Every year, they also come out with special wax-dipped editions as displayed in my photo.

I’m from Pittsburgh where the Pittsburgh Steelers, Penguins, and Pirates team’s colors are Black and Gold, so when I saw the Maker’s Mark limited bottle, I just had to grab it up.

Is Maker’s Mark a go-to whisky?

Maker’s Mark is a great choice as a go-to whisky. It’s a whisky many people keep on their bars to make cocktails with a flavorful whisky that doesn’t cost them a fortune.

It’s also very easy to drink neat or on the rocks.

Is Maker’s Mark priced accurately to its quality?

Maker’s Mark delivers on its price tag.

For just a $32 bottle, it delivers exceptional quality and is a nice easy pour any day of the week.

Conclusion for Maker’s Mark

Maker’s Mark is well known for a reason. It’s one of the first whisky most people try because it’s very affordable and has a nice smooth and flavorful finish.

It also makes a great cocktail for an affordable price which is why it’s behind nearly every bar in the US.
