Is Macallan Edition No. 6 an Approachable Whiskey?

Macallan Edition No. 6 is a very easy whiskey to drink.

It is a whiskey to be reserved for guests who will appreciate the complexity of a limited-edition whiskey created by Macallan.

Is Macallan Edition No. 6 Complex?

Macallan Edition No. 6 has quite a few layers of flavors.

Just on the nose alone, you get vibrant smells of rich caramel blended with bold dark fruits like plum, dark cherry, and raisin. There is a nice hint of spice on the nose, too.

On the palate, you get a lot of the dark fruit flavors upfront followed by a bit of orange, rich caramel, and chocolate, with a beautiful balance of light spice and pepper on the finish.

What are Macallan Edition No. 6’s strongest attributes/flavors?

Macallan Edition No. 6’s strongest attribute is the beauty of the blended flavors. None of the flavors overpower the others and you can cleanly pull out each of the flavor notes when you really sit with a glass of this whiskey.

Is Macallan Edition No. 6 a go-to whiskey?

Macallan Edition No. 6 is a limited-release bottle that cost $150 MSRP and it would be hard to find a bottle on the secondary market now for less than $400.

That being said, if I could find this bottle on a regular basis, I would certainly be picking up a few bottles.

Is Macallan Edition No. 6 priced accurately to its quality?

At MSRP, this bottle would definitely be worth its price tag.

It has incredibly well-balanced flavors that just light up your taste buds with everything you could ask for from a Scotch whisky.

At the $400+ price tag, that would be a tough purchase. Macallan offers so many nice bottles that if you can’t find this bottle for less than $300, I would recommend going with something like Macallan Harmony Collection – Intense Arabica which can still be found on the shelves.

Conclusion for Macallan Edition No. 6

Macallan Edition No. 6 is one of the better Scotch whisky I have tasted and really is a beautiful pour.

I’m lucky to have a bottle thanks to my friend Chuck who purchased this one off the shelf at our local liquor store and gifted it to me after we tasted it together.

If you can find this bottle at a reasonable price, I would certainly recommend picking it up.
