Is Jack Daniels 10 Year Approachable?
Jack Daniels 10 Year Whiskey is extremely approachable.
It’s smooth, it’s delicious, and it’s full of depth and flavor.
Is Jack Daniels 10 Year Complex?
Jack Daniel’s 10 Year Whiskey is very complex and has a lot of layers of flavor.
To start, the nose is bursting with so many different flavor notes that it’s difficult to pin them all down.
The strongest notes that I get right away are charred oak, buttery caramel, and dark fruits.
On top of that, you also get the nice vanilla, banana, and charcoal mellowing notes that Jack Daniel’s is known for.
Then the final layer is the tobacco and leather.
These are some of my favorite smells in a whiskey and it’s not always easy to find so that was a pleasant surprise.
On the palate, Jack Daniel’s 10 Year is sweet, savory, and spicy all at the same time.
And the best part is that all of these flavors are extremely well-balanced.
Many times when you get so many flavors like these, one dominates and overpowers the flavor profile.
With this bottle, they are quite balanced and even though the charred oak does shine through as the dominant flavor, the rest are all supportive of this and back it up extremely well.
And finally, there is the finish.
What are Jack Daniels 10 Year’s strongest attributes/flavors?
The finish on this pour of Jack Daniel’s 10 Year is one of its strongest attributes.
Since this bottle is non-chill filtered, it has a nice oily and buttery mouthfeel that is almost creamy as it coats your mouth with flavor.
The finish is full of big and bold charred oak, tobacco, and leather but also nice spice and a tiny bit of black pepper.
Is Jack Daniels 10 Year a go-to whiskey?
If I could find Jack Daniel’s 10 Year regularly, I would drink this whiskey all the time.
It would absolutely be a go-to whiskey for me and I would always want to have it on my shelf.
Is Jack Daniels 10 Year priced accurately to its quality?
Jack Daniel’s 10 Year does deliver on its somewhat hefty price tag of $75.
It is full of flavor and offers a flavor profile you won’t experience anywhere else.
This is what Jack Daniel’s excels at and it is worth the price of admission.
Overall Conclusion on Jack Daniels 10 Year Whiskey
This may be my favorite Jack Daniel’s whiskey.
I wrote a review of all the best Jack Daniel’s Whiskeys and before this tasting, I had my favorites as the Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel – Barrel Proof and the Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel Select.
This Jack Daniel’s 10 Year has all my favorite flavors of the Single Barrel Barrel Proof bottle but without all the heat of a 120+ Proof whiskey.
This is just a really nice pour.
I’m a fan of the big bold flavors that really wake up all your taste buds and covers the entire array of flavors you could want in a whiskey.
If you get the chance to buy this bottle, definitely pick it up.
*Side Note: I can only imagine how good the 12-year is, but I got to the store one minute after opening and the line had already formed and they only had 6 bottles total. But I’m gracious to have gotten the very last bottle on the shelf of this 10-year.
*Additional Side Note: I managed to get my hands on a bottle of Jack Daniel’s 12 Year through a trade with a friend and was able to write a full Jack Daniel’s 12 Year Review for comparison.
