Is Glenlivet Fusion Cask Approachable?
Glenlivet Fusion Cask is very approachable.
While it is a limited-release bottle, the price was fairly affordable for what comes in the bottle for $99.
This is a whiskey everyone can enjoy.
It is smooth and easy to drink while offering some more complex flavors for the experienced whisky drinker to appreciate.
Is Glenlivet Fusion Cask Complex?
Glenlivet Fusion Cask has a few layers of complexity and depth of flavor.
If you’re a fan of Glenlivet Scotch overall, you will be pleased with this bottle.
It starts with your usual Glenlivet flavors of rich fruits, honey caramel sweetness, and hints of spice and pepper.
This bottle finishes your usual Glenlivet Scotch with a nice sugar cane sweetness from the rum and a bit more oak and caramel from the bourbon finish.
My guess is this bottle is aged closer to 12-14 years because it is not quite as smooth as Glenlivet 18 Year or Glenlivet 21 Year, but it is also much cheaper than those two options.
The finish is quite nice and rounds out the pour with a nice level of pepper and spice that blends very well with the nice fruit flavors.
What are Glenlivet Fusion Cask’s strongest attributes/flavors?
Glenlivet Fusion Casks strongest attribute is that it rounds out the popular Glenlivet flavor profile with an additional layer of sweetness that makes this bottle extremely easy to drink and enjoy.
It’s full of rich flavors and while it has a little bit of heat to it for an 80 proof pour, it is more than backed up in flavor.
Is Glenlivet Fusion Cask a go-to whisky?
If Glenlivet Fusion Cask were more readily available, I would have a bottle of this on my shelf all the time.
While the Glenlivet 18 Year and Glenlivet 21 Year are my favorites, they are quite expensive for an every day sipper.
However, the Glenlivet 15 Year is one of my all-time favorite go-to whiskeys and this bottle competes with that bottle.
Is Glenlivet Fusion Cask priced accurately to its quality?
Glenlivet Fusion Cask is priced exactly where it should be and delivers on its price tag.
$99 is right in that sweet spot where it’s not too expensive but you get an excellent pour of whiskey.
So many Scotch prices are skyrocketing recently (including Glenlivet bottles) and I am glad that this bottle delivers a well-balanced Scotch for a decent price.
