Is Glenlivet 12 Year Approachable?

Glenlivet 12-year is quite approachable. While none of its flavors stand out too strongly, it does have a light and smooth flavor profile. The sweeter toffee, caramel, and vanilla notes are welcoming and the fruit helps add to create a light and easy-to-drink option for beginner Scotch drinkers.

Is Glenlivet 12 Year Complex?

Glenlivet 12-year whisky is not particularly complex, but it does have distinct two layers – citrus and sweet.

What are Glenlivet 12 Year’s strongest attributes/flavors?

Glenlivet 12 Year’s strongest attribute is that is an easy and approachable option for new Scotch drinkers. While other Glenlivet options offer much more complexity, this one is one of the cheaper options coming in at the $55 price tag.

Is Glenlivet 12 Year a go-to whisky?

Glenlivet 12 year would not be a go-to whisky for me because I could spend $10-15 more and get a much higher level of complexity and flavor profile by upgrading to the Glenlivet 14-year Cognac Cask Selection or the Glenlivet 15-year French Oak Reserve.

Is Glenlivet 12 Year priced accurately to its quality?

Glenlivet 12 year is slightly overpriced for its quality. If Glenlivet 12 Year were $35-40, I would be much more likely to recommend it. However, when you can spend $10-15 more and get a much higher quality bottle with the 14-year or 15-year, I would almost always recommend going with the slightly pricier options.
