Is Glenfiddich 14 an Approachable Whisky?
Glenfiddich 14 is a pretty approachable whisky.
While it does have a little bit of pepper and spice to it, it is still quite smooth and full of balanced flavors.
This is a whisky that beginners and experienced whisky drinkers will enjoy.
Is Glenfiddich 14 Complex?
Glenfiddich 14 has a few layers of complexity and depth of flavor.
The nose has hints of caramel, oak, and vanilla from the aging in ex-American Bourbon casks that layer quite well over the malt and light fruits of the mash bill.
The palate offers much of the same but actually has a very nice spice and pepper to it.
It’s the kind of Scotch that after you finish the sip, it’s almost like your mouth is still watering and wants more.
What are Glenfiddich 14’s strongest attributes/flavors?
Glenfiddich 14’s strongest attribute is that it combines a very delicious malt and light fruit flavor profile with ex-American Bourbon casks to really blend a well-balanced array of flavors.
Is Glenfiddich 14 a go-to whisky?
Glenfiddich 14 is a pretty solid whisky and could easily be a go-to Scotch whisky if you don’t mind shelling out the $70.
If you like a spicy finish on top of a nice Scotch whisky malt and a light fruit profile, this could be a solid go-to for you.
Is Glenfiddich 14 priced accurately to its quality?
Glenfiddich 14 delivers on its price tag.
If I only had $70 to purchase a bottle of Scotch myself, I would probably go with either this bottle, Balvenie 12 Doublewood, The Big Peat, or Glenlivet 15 Year.
Conclusion for Glenfiddich 14
Overall, this bottle is an excellent purchase.
There is a reason Glenfiddich is one of the more popular names in Scotch Whisky.
I think I would probably prefer the Glenlivet 15 Year and Balvenie 12 Doublewood to this one, but just barely.
It all comes down to your personal tastes and I tend to lean a little more toward the sweet side than the spicy.
But if you’ve never tried Glenfiddich 14, you should definitely give this one a shot.
