Is Elijah Craig Toasted Barrel an Approachable Whiskey?

Elijah Craig Toasted Barrel is a very easy whiskey to drink.

Since the price point is nearly double the standard Elijah Craig Small Batch, I would only recommend this bottle to more experienced whiskey drinkers who will appreciate the additional toasted oak notes.

Is Elijah Craig Toasted Barrel Complex?

Elijah Craig Toasted Barrel has all your classic bourbon flavors – caramel, oak, vanilla, and a bit of pepper spice but it has the additional layer of the extra toasted oak barrel.

The toasted oak really does shine through and is a nice addition to both the nose and the palate if you’re a fan of oak in your whiskey.

What are Elijah Craig Toasted Barrel’s strongest attributes/flavors?

Elijah Craig Toasted Barrel’s strongest attribute is easily the heavy oak influence.

The additional time finishing the whiskey in toasted new oak barrels really adds to the flavor profile.

Is Elijah Craig Toasted Barrel a go-to whiskey?

Elijah Craig is a little difficult to find in my area so I generally reserve this one for special occasions.

If I could find it more often, it could easily be a solid go-to whiskey despite being a little pricier than the standard Elijah Craig Small Batch.

Is Elijah Craig Toasted Barrel priced accurately to its quality?

Elijah Craig Toasted Barrel does deliver on its price tag.

If you’re a fan of the standard Elijah Craig, you will likely not be disappointed with this one.

Conclusion for Elijah Craig Toasted Barrel

I really enjoy the Elijah Craig Toasted Barrel.

While it is more expensive than your standard Elijah Craig Small Batch, I think the additional toasted oak flavor is worth the additional price.

I’m generally a fan of oak-heavy bourbons when they are balanced well and I think Elijah Craig Toasted Barrel strikes a very nice balance between sweet, spicy, and oak notes.

I recommend buying a bottle if you see this one on the shelves.
