Finish: Long finish – leaves you with heavy caramel and oak with lingering notes of citrus zest, rye spice, and pepper
Is E.H. Taylor – Small Batch an Approachable Whiskey?
E.H. Taylor is a very approachable whiskey mostly due to the fact that it has such bold caramel flavors.
Anyone who takes a sip of this bottle will quickly notice its sweetness and balance of your typical bourbon flavors.
Is E.H. Taylor – Small Batch Complex?
E.H. Taylor Small Batch has a lot of nice layers of flavor.
It starts by hitting you with rich caramels and bold oak upfront then turns over into citrus, cinnamon, and rye spices.
What are E.H. Taylor – Small Batch’s strongest attributes/flavors?
E.H. Taylor’s strongest attributes are its heavy caramel and fruit notes.
It easy to see why so many people love this whiskey because it is just so easy to drink and packs a real punch when it comes to quintessential bourbon flavors.
Is E.H. Taylor – Small Batch a go-to whiskey?
If I could find E.H. Taylor on the shelves, I would buy it up all the time and drink it as my go-to whiskey.
Unfortunately, this bottle is getting so hard to find in my area. The only way I can find a bottle here in Pennsylvania is if I track when others are posting they got their bottles and I have to hit up the stores first thing when they open.
Half the time there are lines out the door for Blanton’s since Buffalo Trace delivers all their products at the same time and it all gets bought up in the first 30 minutes of the store opening.
So flavor-wise, yes… E.H. Taylor would be a go-to whiskey. But price-wise and being able to find it, not so much.
Is E.H. Taylor – Small Batch priced accurately to its quality?
I found this bottle of E.H. Taylor Small Batch at my local liquor store behind the shelf and when it got rung up at the register, it cost me an MSRP price of $42 plus tax.
I honestly feel like that was a bit cheap, but that’s what it cost.
Everywhere I look online shows this bottle costing $70 and some secondary prices are even up closer to $100-130.
Regardless, if you can find this bottle for less than $50, it is an absolute steal.
If you find it between $50-75, that is what I would say is a decent price and the bottle delivers on that price tag.
Once you get to the $100+ MSRP prices, I don’t think it would be worth it.
Conclusion for E.H. Taylor – Small Batch
Overall, E.H. Taylor is an extremely enjoyable whiskey that I have really been enjoying.
It’s made with a similar mash bill from Buffalo Trace as Eagle Rare (which I reviewed right before this one) and the E.H. Taylor definitely offers a bigger and bolder flavor profile than you’d get with Eagle Rare.
I’m still not sure which I would prefer to drink on a daily basis, but I can say for sure that both bottles are excellent deals if you can find them at MSRP prices.
