Is Compass Box Nectarosity an Approachable Whisky?
Compass Box Nectarosity is a pretty easy Scotch to drink, but it does have a bit of alcohol heat to it.
It offers a lot of fruit flavors that most people should enjoy so this would be a bottle that anyone could enjoy.
Is Compass Box Nectarosity Complex?
Compass Box Nectarosity is not particularly complex, but it does offer what it advertises – rich fruit flavors and a nectar-like sweetness to it.
On both the nose and palate, you get a ton of light fruits like apricot, peach, mango, and citrus that is quite enjoyable.
There is also a layer of sweet honey, oak, and vanilla that rounds out the “nectar” sweetness, but you can tell that it is a younger whisky that is not quite as rich as some other Scotches like Balvenie, Oban, and Glenlivet offerings.
The finish is a bit fuller than some Scotches because it is non-chill filtered which helps keep some of the natural oils, but since it is a younger whisky I can also taste the alcohol a bit more than usual.
What are Compass Box Nectarosity’s strongest attributes/flavors?
Compass Box Nectarosity’s strongest attribute is how much fruit flavors it offers.
It advertises rich fruit flavors and a nectar-like sweetness and it delivers on both.
Is Compass Box Nectarosity a go-to whisky?
Compass Box Nectarosity is an easy Scotch to drink, but it doesn’t quite deliver on the rich flavors I would prefer as a go-to Scotch Whisky.
I would be much more likely to stick with my usual Balvenie and Glenlivet bottles if I’m looking for an affordable go-to fruit-forward Scotch Whisky.
Is Compass Box Nectarosity priced accurately to its quality?
I think Compass Box Nectarosity is a bit overpriced for what it delivers.
While it does offer a nice sweet and fruity flavor profile, the quality just seems a bit more like it would fit better as a $45 bottle.
Conclusion for Compass Box Nectarosity
Compass Box offers a nice lineup of Scotch whisky, but I think this bottle is an attempt to create a catchy marketing name and charge a bit extra above what the bottle delivers.
I was excited when I saw this bottle on the shelf, but I wish it was aged a little longer and offered a richer flavor profile without the cheaper “alcohol” note shining through.
I understand trying to create an eye-catching label, but the whisky has to back up the price.
Overall, I think the Compass Box Peat Monster is a much better purchase that is also $5 cheaper so I would purchase that one if you have the choice.
