Is Calumet Farm 10 Year Bourbon an Approachable Whiskey?
Calumet Farm 10 Year Bourbon has a bit of spice and heat to it, so beginners may find this one a little strong.
Experienced whiskey drinkers will likely appreciate the lovely oak, caramel, and spice notes of this pour.
Is Calumet Farm 10 Year Bourbon Complex?
Calumet Farm 10 Year Bourbon does what it sets out to do very well.
It provides an extremely bold expression of the traditional bourbon flavors that we all know and love.
While this pour does have quite a bit of spice to it, it offers extremely tasty charred oak, vanilla, and rich caramel and brown sugar flavors from being aged in the barrel for 10+ years.
There is also something quite delicious about the finish on this one.
It is non-chill filtered so it leaves you with a very nice oily mouthfeel that just lingers with a pleasant oaky tannic spice that keeps you reaching for another glass.
What are Calumet Farm 10 Year Bourbon’s strongest attributes/flavors?
Calumet Farm 10 Year Bourbon’s strongest attribute is how big and bold the oak and spices are.
Both of these flavors really feed into the excellent finish.
Is Calumet Farm 10 Year Bourbon a go-to whiskey?
Calumet Farm 10 Year Bourbon is a little pricey for me to be a go-to whiskey.
While I do really enjoy this one, there are other whiskeys that are cheaper that I would choose as a daily sipper like Elijah Craig and Old Forester 1910 and Old Forester 1920.
Is Calumet Farm 10 Year Bourbon priced accurately to its quality?
Calumet Farm 10 Year Bourbon delivers an excellent amount of flavor and has a lovely finish.
However, I would be much more likely to recommend this bottle on a regular basis if it were a $50-60 bottle.
I feel that price point is where this pour delivers and would be quite comparable to other bourbons in that price range.
Conclusion for Calumet Farm 10 Year Bourbon
I really enjoy this bottle of Calumet Farm 10 Year Bourbon.
It’s one of those bottles that you just keep pouring another glass from because the flavors and finish just keep you wanting more.
The flavor profile isn’t too complex, but it does the flavors it has extremely well.
Overall, I am a big fan of this bourbon.
I just wish it were a little bit cheaper so I would feel more comfortable purchasing it on a more regular basis.
In addition, this bottle is better than both the Calumet Farm 8 Year Bourbon and the Calumet 15 & 8 Year Small Batch Bourbon.
So if you’re thinking of trying out a bottle of Calumet Farm Bourbon, this is a good bottle to start with.
