Bulleit Bourbon – Barrel Strength an Approachable Whiskey?
Bulleit Barrel Strength packs quite a punch. It comes in strong and leaves you with a nice strong finish.
This is definitely not a whiskey for beginners.
Is Bulleit Bourbon – Barrel Strength Complex?
Bulleit Barrel Strength has a few layers of complexity.
It starts with nice rich caramel and butterscotch then flips over into heavy oak, pepper, and rye spice.
It’s quite a nice combination if you’re a fan of high-rye bourbons.
What are Bulleit Bourbon – Barrel Strength’s strongest attributes/flavors?
Bulleit Barrel Strength’s strongest attribute would be its finish. I love a non-chill filtered finish that leaves your mouth with a nice oily and buttery mouthfeel.
This bottle does exactly that.
While I wish the sweeter caramel and butterscotch notes persisted a little longer on the finish, I also enjoy the oak and pepper spice it leaves you with for 30-60 seconds after each sip.
Is Bulleit Bourbon – Barrel Strength a go-to whiskey?
If you like big and bold bourbons, I could see Bulleit Barrel Strength being a whiskey I could drink often.
However, at the $60 price point, I don’t think this bottle adds enough over the standard Bulleit Bourbon to warrant doubling the cost.
Is Bulleit Bourbon – Barrel Strength priced accurately to its quality?
I would buy Bulleit Barrel Strength a bit more if it were a $45 bottle.
With that being said, I’m also not disappointed in spending $60 on the bottle I’m currently drinking.
Conclusion for Bulleit Bourbon – Barrel Strength
I do really enjoy Bulleit Barrel Strength and if you’re a fan of high-rye bourbons and enjoy a big and bold pour I would recommend giving this one a shot for yourself.
The first time I had this whiskey was when I was in Kentucky and visited the Bulleit distillery. My friends and I were fans then and we’re still fans now.
Bulleit overall is a great whiskey to use in cocktails and you will always find at least one bottle of Bulleit on my shelf at all times.
If you’re a fan of the standard Bulleit Bourbon and Bulleit Rye, you will most certainly enjoy this one.
