Finish: Smooth finish with honey and citrus sweetness followed by a bit of rye spice, anise, and notes of mint and pine
Is Bulleit 12 Year Rye an Approachable Whiskey?
Bulleit 12-Year Rye is a very approachable whiskey.
Not only does it have a very affordable price point, but it is packed full of fresh fruit and crisp grassy and floral flavors.
It is easy to drink and is a pour that most will be able to drink with ease.
Is Bulleit 12-Year Rye Complex?
Bulleit 12-Year Rye is much more complex than I expected.
On the nose, you get a nice caramel and honey base followed by a very robust fruit profile that seems to be a mix of lemon zest, orange citrus, honeydew, cantaloupe, and apricot.
This is followed up by earthy, grassy, rye grain and spice flavors that cover a wide spectrum of flavor notes I am not used to tasting in a rye whiskey, let alone one aged for 12 years.
Then another layer of fresh flavors of minty pine, anise, and rye spice flows over your palate.
The finish is very refreshing and is quite smooth.
What are Bulleit 12-Year Rye’s strongest attributes/flavors?
Bulleit 12-Year Rye’s strongest attribute is how deep the layers of flavor are.
In many rye whiskeys, you get two layers of flavor that are mostly just your usual caramel/honey followed by rye spice and fruits.
Bulleit 12-Year Rye offers 2-3 unique layers of flavor each containing 3-5 flavors that truly stand out in each sip.
And on top of that, the whiskey is still smooth and easy to sip on.
Is Bulleit 12-Year Rye a go-to whiskey?
Bulleit 12-Year Rye could easily be a go-to whiskey.
It’s easy to drink, has a smooth finish, and offers a ton of unique flavors in each sip.
This is an excellent addition to the Bulleit lineup and I predict this will be a very popular bottle for the cocktail industry.

Bulleit 12-Year Rye is priced quite well for its quality.
It has so many layers of flavor and will be an excellent rye whiskey to sip neat or enhance a cocktail.

I’m always a big fan of Bulleit whiskey and this bottle of 12-year rye is no exception.
It offers a ton of flavor for an excellent price point.
