Is Buffalo Trace an Approachable Whiskey?

Buffalo Trace is an easy bourbon to drink. It has enough flavors for experienced whiskey drinkers to appreciate but is also light enough for beginners to enjoy.

Is Buffalo Trace Complex?

Buffalo Trace has a few layers of complexity to it.

On the nose, you are given a very pleasant balance of toffee, honey, vanilla, and oak blended well with dark fruit flavors that absolutely remind me of the thumbprint cookies with strawberry jam in the center.

What are Buffalo Trace’s strongest attributes/flavors?

Buffalo Trace’s strongest attribute is its fruit and caramel flavors. For the MSRP price of this bottle, it packs a lot of flavor.

Is Buffalo Trace a go-to whiskey?

Buffalo Trace is an excellent go-to whiskey. For the $25 price tag, it offers more flavors than many of its competitors. It’s easy to drink, has a very nice nose, and is a simple bourbon to just have a few glasses without realizing it.

Is Buffalo Trace priced accurately to its quality?

At MSRP, Buffalo Trace is priced extremely well for its quality. At $25, I would say to buy this bottle any time you see it. However, Buffalo Trace limits the number of bottles it releases at a time which has caused the price on the secondary market to increase a ton (sometimes $80-100).

Luckily, I live in Pennsylvania and the state stores are required to sell the bottles at MSRP so I can occasionally stock up on a few bottles for a great value.

I would say the max that I would pay for a bottle of Buffalo Trace would probably be $35. If you can find it cheaper than that, it’s worth it to pick it up.

Conclusion for Buffalo Trace

Buffalo Trace is a very solid bourbon. It’s a great bottle for beginners and experienced whiskey drinkers. If you see this bottle in your area for $25-35, buy it up.
