Is Blanton’s Single Barrel an Approachable Whiskey?
Blanton’s Single Barrel is quite easy to drink.
It has excellent fruit flavors combined with your quintessential bourbon flavors of caramel, oak, and vanilla.
This is a whiskey anyone can drink and enjoy.
Is Blanton’s Single Barrel Complex?
Blanton’s has quite a few layers of complexity.
It starts with big and bold fruit flavors that almost remind me of candied apricots, cherries, green apples, and peaches.
It then rolls into our favorite bourbon flavors of caramel, toasted oak, and vanilla.
Then it finishes out with a peppery spice as a result of the high-rye mash bill.
Overall, it really takes you on a nice journey that not many whiskeys will.
What are Blanton’s Single Barrel’s strongest attributes/flavors?
Blanton’s Single Barrel’s strongest attribute is its candied fruit flavors that I really enjoy. This fruit flavor note is often found in Buffalo Trace products and it’s a nice addition to your normal bourbon flavor profile.
I think this is why so many people enjoy Buffalo Trace products.
Is Blanton’s Single Barrel a go-to whiskey?
If you could find bottles of Blanton’s on a more consistent basis, I could easily see it being a go-to whiskey.
It’s a well-balanced pour that goes with any situation.
Is Blanton’s Single Barrel priced accurately to its quality?
If you can find Blanton’s at the MSRP price of $65, it is worth every penny.
However, many people try to sell this bottle at $130+ and I’m not quite sure it is worth it at that level.
Conclusion for Blanton’s Single Barrel
If you can find a bottle of Blanton’s at the MSRP price of $65, definitely pick it up. You won’t be disappointed at that price tag.
As most of us know, Blanton’s has now become quite a rare commodity.
I live in Pennsylvania and since this is a state-controlled liquor state, we are guaranteed MSRP prices if we can buy it from a store.
The only problem is that people now know when trucks are being delivered and when shipments will be coming in, so there are lines of 20-30 people sitting in front of stores hours before they open hoping to get all the Buffalo Trace products.
Whether this is a marketing tactic or a true supply and demand issue, these bottles can be quite hard to come by.
If you see one on the shelf, I would recommend picking it up and giving it a taste to see if you think it is worth all the hype.
While I enjoy the whiskey quite a bit and think it is worth the $65 price tag, I do not think it is worth camping out in line and spending twice the MSRP price for a single bottle.
