Is Amrut Cask Strength an Approachable Whisky?

Amrut Cask Strength packs a bit of a punch with its 61.8% ABV, but it is more than worth it with the amount of flavor packed into each sip.

While it may be a little hot for beginners, this is a whisky that every experienced whisky drinker will probably enjoy, especially if you like cask-strength non-chill filtered whiskeys.

Is Amrut Cask Strength Complex?

Amrut Cask Strength is extremely complex and has a lot of layers of flavor.

The nose is similar to a Scotch whiskey finished in ex-Bourbon barrels. It carries all the caramel and oak you would expect but is layered with the rich spices, smoke, and citrus zest from the Indian Single Malt.

But the real magic happens on the palate.

Right from the first sip, your taste buds will light up with rich and intense flavor.

This Cask Strength bottle has leaps and bounds more flavor than the standard Amrut Indian Single Malt (and I really enjoyed that one, too).

Each sip is packed full of caramel, vanilla, and fruit sweetness but is backed up by oak, a bit of smokiness, and extremely rich spices that give you an experience you won’t find anywhere other than Indian whisky.

Since this whisky is non-chill filtered and cask strength, you get a truly wonderful mouthfeel that is both oily and buttery that coats your entire mouth with flavor.

What are Amrut Cask Strength’s strongest attributes/flavors?

Amrut Cask Strength’s strongest attribute is the amount of spices and complex flavors that you get in each sip. It’s a whisky that I will have to come back to a few times just to pinpoint all of the flavors I’m enjoying in each sip.

Is Amrut Cask Strength a go-to whisky?

Amrut Cask Strength Indian Single Malt Whisky costs $75, but it is easily worth it.

I could easily drink this whisky as my daily sipper if it were easier to find in my area.

Is Amrut Cask Strength priced accurately to its quality?

Amrut Cask Strength delivers on its price tag.

I’d actually argue that this bottle over-delivers on its price tag.

Conclusion for Amrut Cask Strength

Amrut Cask Strength is a must-buy if you see it on the shelf.

I like this bottle more than most Scotches in the similar price range and it is so full of flavor that I just want to keep pouring another glass just to see what additional flavor notes I’ll find.
