Those were my tasting notes before looking at the packaging, so here is how they explain the flavor profile from the back of the bottling label.

What Is The Collaboration Between Glenfiddich and Aston Martin Formula One Team?

Glenfiddich announced a multi-year global partnership with Aston Martin in November 2024 where they are collaborating with this luxury collaborative 16 Year bottle while still keeping affordable pricing at $75 MSRP in the US.

Malt Master Brian Kinsman said he visited the Aston Martin F1 Headquarters and cited that the craftsmanship and engineering of the F1 cars reminded him of the precision and intuition they feel about their whisky with the slogan:

“While precision may guide the way, it is intuition that defines the outcome.”

So with this partnership, Aston Martin Formula One and Glenfiddich are not only partnering with this whiskey collaboration, but also hosting F1 themed pop-up events around the country to bring the whisky lifestyle story to life.

I think it is a great way to introduce the Scotch brand to a younger generation of fans and was quite happy to see a special edition Glenfiddich on the shelf at my local liquor store here in Pennsylvania.

So let’s get into it and see how it tastes!

Is Glenfiddich 16 Year an Approachable Whisky?

Glenfiddich 16 Year is an extremely approachable whiskey.

I’m a fan of Glenfiddich Scotch overall, but this bottle is quite easy to drink with lots of fruit flavors, vanilla, and a nice touch of oak and caramel/maple sweetness from the additional aging in multiple different barrel types.

This is a whiskey that I believe does exactly what they advertised it as – a luxury Scotch whisky at an affordable price.

This is a whisky that everyone will enjoy.

Is Glenfiddich 16 Year Complex?

Glenfiddich 16 Year has a lot of depth and complexity from the additional aging in American Oak Wine Barrels and Second Fill Bourbon Casks.

You certainly get the additional oak, spice, and tannic elements from this process and you get a ton of rich fruit flavors from the wine barrels that layer extremely well on top of the already-delicious Glenfiddich fruit-forward flavor profile.

Also, the finish is quite excellent on this bottle.

It is non-chill filtered so you get a nice oily mouthfeel that is richer than many 40-43% Scotch whisky bottles.

I’m a huge fan of the rich finish that non-chill filtering offers so this was a big bonus for me.

I’m honestly surprised that they don’t print that it’s non-chill filtered on the bottle packaging because that is becoming a selling point more and more these days.

Overall, this bottle offers excellent depth of flavor and layers of complexity.

What are Glenfiddich 16 Year’s strongest attributes/flavors?

Glenfiddich 16 Year’s strongest attribute is that is a 16 Year Old Glenfiddich Scotch Whisky that costs $15 less than the Glenfiddich 15 Year.

Most Scotch drinkers already know the name Glenfiddich so they know it’s a quality product, but the fun of the this bottle is that it’s a new twist and partnership with a fun brand like Aston Martin F1.

The bottle labels, the branding, the tagline all just line up well for me and I think it’s a great product to help each side of the partnership promote each other.

For Glenfiddich to not overcharge for this bottle is a real delight when many other distilleries are gouging on prices for so many of their “special release” bottles.

Glenfiddich is doing it right and offering a product that lands right in the comfortable price point where everyone is likely willing to give it a shot.

Is Glenfiddich 16 Year a go-to whisky?

Glenfiddich Scotch is always a solid go-to whisky so it’s hard to go wrong with any of their bottles.

This bottle is no exception and is absolutely a whisky I could drink as a go-to all the time.

Unfortunately, it is a limited-release bottle so you have to grab them while you can.

That being said, I’m pretty sure I’ll be going back to my store and grabbing myself a backup of this one.

Is Glenfiddich 16 Year priced accurately to its quality?

Glenfiddich 16 Year Aston Martin F1 Edition absolutely delivers on its price point.

It is aged for an additional year over the Glenfiddich 15 Year and is price at $15 less.

I think Glenfiddich is smart to offer a product of this quality at a price that immediately feels like a great deal.

When I first saw a special release Glenfiddich bottle on the shelf, I dreaded looking at the price so when I saw it was priced quite fairly, it was a no-brainer for me to purchase and give a shot.

After tasting, I’d recommend you also do the same.

Conclusion for Glenfiddich 16 Year - Aston Martin F1 Edition

I’m pleasantly surprised by the quality of this bottle.

I enjoy the flavors that the American Oak Wine Barrels and Second Fill Bourbon Barrels bring to the flavor profile.

It has a little more kick to than the standard Glenfiddich 14 Year for the same price, but it’s a nice kick of flavor that I really enjoy.

If I had to choose between the two, I would certainly pick up this special edition while it’s available.

I just tasted it against the Glenfiddich 14 Year to be sure of my decision and without a doubt I enjoy this bottle more.

It’s not necessarily that it is better quality but it just has a bigger more robust flavor profile with a nice full non-chill filtered finish behind it.

The 14 Year is smooth and extremely easy to drink, but this Glenfiddich 16 Year is a Scotch Whisky for someone who likes a bit of the oaky tannic spice on the finish alongside a plethora of rich fruit flavors.

It’s nice that they didn’t overdo it with the bourbon flavors like many other brands do.

This bottle has a delicate blend of all three casks flavors and is a real delight to drink.

If you see this bottle on the shelf, definitely do yourself a favor and pick up a bottle…. or two.
