Is Sagamore Spirit Rye Double Oak an Approachable Whiskey?
Sagamore Spirit Rye Double Oak seems a bit one-dimensional to me.
It is overwhelmed by charred oak flavors which I think beginners may find smooth, but it overpowered the rye flavors I usually appreciate from Sagamore Rye.
Is Sagamore Spirit Rye Double Oak Complex?
Sagamore Spirit Rye Double Oak is not particularly complex.
It has some flavors that get overpowered by the double oak which I am not a huge fan of.
What are Sagamore Spirit Rye Double Oak’s strongest attributes/flavors?
Sagamore Spirit Rye Double Oak’s strongest attribute is that it definitely delivers on what it advertises.
The whiskey has a ton of oak flavor which is a nice flavor profile if you’re a fan of lots of oak.
Is Sagamore Spirit Rye Double Oak a go-to whiskey?
I could not drink Sagamore Spirit Rye Double Oak regularly, so it would not be a go-to whiskey for me.
This would be a bottle I would take on a camping trip where we’re cooking over a fire and making s’mores where the oaky flavor profile would be a nice match to the environment.
Is Sagamore Spirit Rye Double Oak priced accurately to its quality?
I think Sagamore Spirit Rye Double Oak is a little overpriced, but mostly because I really enjoy the base level rye at the $40 price point.
I can understand that some people really love a sweet oaky flavor profile and it may be worth a little more to have the double oak, but for me, I’ll stick with the base level Sagamore Spirit Rye.
Conclusion for Sagamore Spirit Rye Double Oak
Sagamore Spirit Rye Double Oak is not my favorite whiskey.
I prefer their standard Rye whiskey which costs $20-25 less and offers a more balanced flavor profile that I enjoy.
If you’re a huge fan of sweet, heavily oaked whiskeys you can give this one a try.
