Is Garrison Brothers Honey Dew an Approachable Whiskey?
Garrison Brothers Honey Dew Whiskey is quite a unique experience.
I wasn’t sure what to expect coming into this one and I’m not even fully sure what I think coming out of it.
First and foremost, this is a surprisingly comforting pour of whiskey.
I can’t quite pinpoint what it is, but the finish offers a balance of flavors that complement the heavy honey notes extremely well.
All-in-all, this whiskey is quite approachable and is very easy to drink.
Is Garrison Brothers Honey Dew Complex?
Garrison Brothers Honey Dew has quite a bit of complexity to it.
It’s hard for me to separate the layers of flavor that I am getting with this one, but it really reminds me of a comforting glass of hot tea that I’ve added whiskey and lots of honey into.
The honey is so rich in this pour that it almost reminds me of eating those honey sticks that you cut open on one end and I’d even go so far as to say that it’s like the flavor you get when chewing on a fresh honeycomb.
Below the rich honey flavors, you will find a full bourbon flavor profile with notes of wheat grain and malted barley.
The finish is very enjoyable and does not even remind me of any other typical whiskey finishes.
The honey just continues to linger and even makes your mouth water a bit for 20-30 seconds.
What are Garrison Brothers Honey Dew’s strongest attributes/flavors?
Garrison Brothers Honey Dew Whiskey’s strongest attribute is that it is naturally infused with Texas home-grown honey and it shows.
This isn’t your typical flavored whiskey that tastes artificial and cheap.
The natural honey flavors that shine through will remind you of the flavor of fresh honey directly from a beehive with the smell of a fresh honeycomb.
Is Garrison Brothers Honey Dew a go-to whiskey?
Garrison Brothers Honey Dew Whiskey is a unique experience that I don’t find in many bottles.
As I mentioned above, this is a whiskey I would pull out on a freezing-cold winter night when my brain wants a nice hot toddy or tea with honey to warm up.
Is Garrison Brothers Honey Dew priced accurately to its quality?
Garrison Brothers Honey Dew Whiskey is quite enjoyable, but I wish it cost $40-50.
I would feel more comfortable recommending this bottle at a more affordable price tag.
With that being said, if you’re a person who likes unique whiskeys and loves to try new bottles, this is a purchase you will definitely find flavors you’ve never tasted in a whiskey before.
Conclusion for Garrison Brothers Honey Dew
I love trying new whiskeys and this is one that I have found very interesting and surprisingly enjoyable.
My favorite thing about this whiskey is that the finish is very rich and rewarding.
It leaves you with such a strong honey flavor in your mouth that it exceeded my expectations from that aspect.
However, I do have to categorize this into the “flavored whiskey” category so it’s difficult for me to compare this against traditional bourbon and rye whiskey.
If you’re someone who enjoys trying new things and isn’t looking for your typical bourbon experience, this is a fun bottle to try.
I am also guessing that this whiskey will taste amazing in a few cocktails, so I wouldn’t be surprised if you see some cocktail recipes using this bottle shortly.
