Is Joseph Magnus Bourbon an Approachable Whiskey?

Joseph Magnus Bourbon is a bold bourbon that is packed full of flavor.

Surprisingly, it is quite smooth and easy to drink for being 100 proof.

I would have expected it to have a bit more heat on it, but it is easy to sip on and a great whiskey for both beginners and experienced whiskey drinkers.

Is Joseph Magnus Bourbon Complex?

Joseph Magnus Bourbon has a lot of complex flavors and depth of flavor.

Since it is a sourced bourbon, it has all your traditional bourbon flavors like caramel, vanilla, and oak.

But on top of that, it has extremely rich dark fruit flavors from being triple cask finished in Oloroso Sherry, Pedro Ximenez, and Cognac Casks.

The result is an extremely rich and complex flavor profile that is a delight to sip on.

What are Joseph Magnus Bourbon’s strongest attributes/flavors?

Joseph Magnus Bourbon’s strongest attribute is the way it blends the lovely rich caramel, vanilla, and toasted oak flavors with rich dark fruits, cinnamon spice, baking spice notes, and earthy tobacco and nutty notes.

Is Joseph Magnus Bourbon a go-to whiskey?

Joseph Magnus Bourbon is an excellent go-to whiskey if you have the money to afford it.

At $100 per bottle, it is a little steep to be a daily sipper for most people.

It is also pretty limited to find in my area, so this is one I’ll be reserving for occasions where I’m looking to step up my bourbon game and sip on something a little more full of flavor than your typical bourbon bottle under $50.

Is Joseph Magnus Bourbon priced accurately to its quality?

Joseph Magnus Bourbon delivers on its price tag.

While it does cost $100, the flavors in this bottle are quite impressive and create a combination of flavors that is just so delightful to sit with and enjoy.

Conclusion for Joseph Magnus Bourbon

I cracked this bottle to review it and wasn’t sure what to expect.

I’m a huge fan of the Joseph Magnus Cigar Blend and decided to give this one a shot to see if it stacks up.

Let me tell you…. it does.

You can certainly notice the $100 price difference between the two, but both are exceptional whiskeys.

Did I Reach For Another Pour?

One of my biggest factors when it comes to reviewing whiskeys is whether I reach to pour a second glass to really get a deeper dive into the flavors.

So is this a second pour whiskey?

Yes, it is.

I got a lot of depth and flavor on the first pour, but I just needed a second (and third) of this one to really determine exactly what flavors I was finding here.

It’s not often I do second and third pours for these reviews unless I really enjoy the bottle, so this one is a winner.

If you see Joseph Magnus bourbon on your shelf and haven’t tried it yet, pick one up and give it a shot.
