Palate: Heavy spice, rich oak flavors, vanilla, caramel, pepper, citrus notes, light fruits
Finish: Long heavy finish that is full of spice and heat – leaves you with heavy spice and heat on the palate layered on top of tons of oak, citrus, and pepper
Is Jefferson’s Tropics an Approachable Whiskey?
Jefferson’s Tropic is a big and bold whiskey.
It packs a ton of spice and heat on the palate, so this is not a whiskey for beginners.
If you’re a fan of big heavy oak and spice flavors, this could be a whiskey for you.
Is Jefferson’s Tropics Complex?
Jefferson’s Tropics has a few layers of flavor but isn’t particularly complex.
Aging the whiskey barrels in an extremely hot and humid Singapore climate causes the caramelized sugars and oaky flavors to really stand out.
And you for sure get a whole ton of oak and oaky tannic spice on this pour.
In addition to the heavy oak and spice, you do get a bit of caramel and vanilla sweetness alongside some citrus and light fruit notes.
What are Jefferson’s Tropics’s strongest attributes/flavors?
Jefferson’s Tropics strongest attribute is absolutely the amount of spice and oak you get on this one.
Is Jefferson’s Tropics a go-to whiskey?
Jefferson’s Tropics is a little hot and spicy for my tastes.
I can appreciate the bottle and what they accomplished with the Singapore aging, but this one feels a bit more like a marketing ploy to me.
I’d probably go with the regular Jefferson’s Very Small Batch over this one for less than half the price.
Is Jefferson’s Tropics priced accurately to its quality?
Jefferson’s Tropics packs big, heavy flavors but I just don’t think they’re balanced enough to warrant the $110 price tag.
This one feels like a marketing tactic to me and while interesting, the bottle just didn’t stack up for me.
Conclusion for Jefferson’s Tropics
Jefferson’s Tropics has a ton of oak and peppery spice flavors that are enjoyable, the bottle just isn’t balanced well enough for me.
I appreciate the flavors in the pour but it’s just not my favorite.
I am a fan of the regular $40 Jefferson’s Very Small Batch and I would recommend purchasing that one over this bottle.
