Where I Got This Bottle
This bottle was a gift to me from one of my best friends who lives in Tokyo, Japan.
He visited this past year and brought me this bottle to enjoy as we had a few drinks before streaming some video games live on Twitch to our friends for New Years.
I would never be able to find this bottle in my home state of Pennsylvania, but I do think it is available in other states in the US.
And from looking around, it appears that this is the first whiskey that Kirin has released in the United States.
So with that… enjoy the review.
Is Fuji Single Grain Japanese Whiskey an Approachable Whiskey?
Fuji Single Grain Whiskey is quite approachable.
It definitely has a distinct grain profile as its bottle advertises and reminds me of a bit of a chocolatey, sugary cereal like Cocoa Pebbles.
Is Fuji Single Grain Japanese Whiskey Complex?
Fuji Single Grain Japanese Whiskey has a few layers of complexity and depth of flavor.
It starts out with its base cereal grain notes and is followed up by some toasted oak, vanilla, and caramel from being aged in American Oak Barrels.
In addition, it has some nice fruit and spice notes that really help balance out the flavor profile.
What are Fuji Single Grain Japanese Whiskey’s strongest attributes/flavors?
Fuji Single Grain Japanese Whiskey’s strongest attributes are the grain flavors this pour offers.
It’s a very unique flavor profile and it is quite enjoyable.
Is Fuji Single Grain Japanese Whiskey a go-to whiskey?
Since my friend brought me this bottle from Japan, I doubt I’ll be finding another one here in Pennsylvania, so this is one that I reserve for special occasions and to share with friends.
Is Fuji Single Grain Japanese Whiskey priced accurately to its quality?
I am not actually sure how much MSRP is on this bottle since my friend brought it to me from Japan, but from looking online it looks like it is about $100 in the United States.
Since this offers a flavor profile I don’t find in nearly any whiskeys I have ever had, I think it delivers on the price tag and brings a unique flavor profile that is quite enjoyable.
Conclusion for Fuji Single Grain Japanese Whiskey
This is a special bottle for me since my friend brought it as a gift for me on his recent trip from Japan.
From a flavor standpoint, this bottle offers a flavor that I do not find in any American whiskey or even any Scotch whisky.
The thing I like most about this bottle is that it has almost a cereal grain flavor that reminds me of the cereals that I ate as a kid growing up like Cocoa Pebbles and Frosted Flakes.
It also has lovely caramel, oak, and vanilla notes from being aged in ex-American Bourbon Casks and spice and pepper notes that are quite enjoyable.
If you see this bottle on the shelf and are looking to experience a unique whiskey, I recommend picking this one up.
