Is Dead Rabbit Irish Whiskey an Approachable Whiskey?
This isn’t your typical Irish Whiskey.
Rather than being very sweet and full of light fruit flavors, this Irish Whiskey is full of oaky bourbon flavors from being aged in American Oak barrels.
Rather than being all sweet and fruit, the balance of oak and spice really create a nice quality whiskey that I think many American whiskey fans will enjoy.
Is Dead Rabbit Irish Whiskey Complex?
Dead Rabbit Irish Whiskey is quite complex and has some lovely depth of flavor.
It starts with the base flavors of your typical Irish whiskey which is full of light fruit, honey sweetness, and some malt and grain.
But since this bottle is aged for 5 years in American Bourbon casks, it really pulls a ton of oak, vanilla, and spice flavors out.
When these flavor profiles are stacked on top of each other, you get an excellent balance of sweet and spice.
At first, my brain wasn’t quite understanding what I was drinking because the flavor profile of this whiskey isn’t your normal pour.
But as I sat with the glass and thought about how this whiskey was created, it started to make a lot more sense and I could really start picking out the individual flavors I was tasting.
What are Dead Rabbit Irish Whiskey’s strongest attributes/flavors?
Dead Rabbit Irish Whiskey’s strongest attribute is that it perfectly blends the sweet honey and fruit flavors of Irish Whiskey with the oak, caramel, and vanilla flavors of American Bourbon.
Is Dead Rabbit Irish Whiskey a go-to whiskey?
Dead Rabbit Irish Whiskey could definitely be a go-to whiskey.
It satisfies my need for sweetness but also packs a lot of depth into each sip with a nice smooth and easy finish.
Is Dead Rabbit Irish Whiskey priced accurately to its quality?
Dead Rabbit Irish Whiskey delivers over its price tag for me.
Granted, I wouldn’t want to pay a ton more than $40 for this bottle, but I am quite impressed with the flavors in this pour in comparison to what I paid.
