Elijah Craig Barrel Proof Batch A123 has a lot of layers of flavor.

It starts out with an extremely pleasant nose full of caramel, oak, vanilla, baking spice, citrus, apple, and cinnamon.

On your first sip, you’re hit with a big and bold punch of caramel, but it is quickly followed up with a massive amount of pepper and spicy heat that will send your taste buds into a frenzy.

Once your taste buds calm down a bit, you’ll get a bit of the sweetness back followed by a rich toasted oak, vanilla, and citrus zest.

It finishes up with a buttery and oily mouthfeel that coats your entire mouth and leaves you with a long caramel and oak finish with a spice pepper finish.

Elijah Craig Barrel Proof Batch A123’s strongest attribute is most certainly its proof.

When you think of a Barrel Proof whiskey this pour is what I always imagine and want in my barrel-proof whiskeys.

I always prefer to have all the flavor and heat left in the bottle and the drinker can choose to add water to it if they want.

This bottle definitely gives you all the strength of a barrel proof whiskey and lets you experience the full experience if you can handle it and if not, you can always add a little water to cool it off and unlock some of the flavors for yourself.

With the strength of this whiskey, it is a pour I reserve for special occasions.

There is so much flavor in each sip that this is one that I would pour and sit with for a while to really explore and pull out all the rich flavors I can find.

I think Elijah Craig Barrel Proof Batch A123 is priced well for its quality.

It delivers on its price point.

While it is about double the price of your standard Elijah Craig Small Batch, it packs so much more flavor and really stands out in comparison.

Conclusion for Elijah Craig Barrel Proof – Batch A123

I’m a big fan of Barrel Proof whiskeys that really knock your taste buds for a loop.

I’m glad I purchased this bottle and I think I may prefer this batch slightly more than the Elijah Craig Barrel Proof Batch C922 that I reviewed recently.

It has a little more fruit flavor and the nose is just remarkable on this bottle.
