Jefferson’s Very Small Batch Tasting Notes
Nose: Caramel, vanilla, sweet candied dark fruits, light cinnamon, toasted oak
Palate: Caramel, candied dark fruits that remind me of those red cherry ball candies, a bit of brown sugar, cinnamon, and toasted oak
Finish: Medium finish with a bit of heat that leaves you with a nice buttery mouthfeel full of candy fruit flavors, brown sugar, and a nice lingering toasted oak
Is Jefferson’s Very Small Batch an Approachable Whiskey?
Jefferson’s Very Small Batch has a bit of heat on the finish that may turn off beginner whiskey drinkers.
I can appreciate the heat on this one though because it leaves you with a nice oily and buttery mouthfeel that warrants the additional heat for me even though it’s only 41.15% ABV.
Is Jefferson’s Very Small Batch Complex?
Jefferson’s Very Small Batch has quite a few layers of flavor complexity to it.
It starts with a very nice dark cherry candy flavor that I really enjoy.
It then turns a little bit toward brown sugar, cinnamon, and spice then finishes with a nice toasted oak flavor and a pleasant mouthfeel.
What are Jefferson’s Very Small Batch’s strongest attributes/flavors?
Jefferson’s Very Small Batch’s strongest attribute is definitely the cherry candy flavor that I’m getting.
Is Jefferson’s Very Small Batch a go-to whiskey?
Jefferson’s Very Small Batch is a pretty affordable bottle so I could see this being a decent go-to bottle for some.
I have a few other favorites in this price range like Elijah Craig, Old Forester, and Four Roses, but this would be a nice change of pace every once in a while.
Is Jefferson’s Very Small Batch priced accurately to its quality?
I think Jefferson’s Very Small Batch is priced pretty well for its quality. It has a nice flavor to it and I could see this being a bottle to share with friends while playing cards or having a game night.
Conclusion for Jefferson’s Very Small Batch
I got this bottle of Jefferson’s Very Small Batch from the other co-founder of this site Chuck and to be honest, I didn’t expect much from it.
Turns out, I rather enjoy it.
It’s a blend of other straight bourbons and apparently, the bourbons they chose were a good combination of flavors!
