Is Rampur Double Cask an Approachable Whiskey?
Rampur Double Cask is a bottle that really surprised me. I don’t see many Indian whiskeys on the shelf here in Pennsylvania. When I saw this celebration pack that came with a bottle and two Rampur whiskey glasses, it caught my attention and I’m glad it did.
Right when I opened the bottle I could smell the tropical fruits wafting out of the top.
When I took my first sip, I got even more tropical fruits that almost tasted like candied fruits blended with caramel, light oak, and spice notes.
If there were ever a whiskey that was approachable, Rampur Double Cask is it.
This whiskey would be an excellent choice for both beginners to whiskey and experienced whiskey drinkers alike.
Is Rampur Double Cask Complex?
Rampur Double Cask has quite a few layers of complexity to it.
It starts off with big and bold tropical fruit flavors. The moment I took the first sip, I immediately tasted pineapple and buttery brown sugar.
From there, the flavors almost turned more candied, like candied mango, apricots, and raisins. I also get a strange tasting note similar to banana Laffy Taffy along the sides of my tongue.
It then finishes out with some oak and light pepper and spice notes that linger through the buttery finish.
This almost reminds me of if you took a bottle of Oban or Balvenie Scotch and infused it with bold citrus fruits – which is an amazing blend of flavors that I definitely didn’t expect.
What are Rampur Double Cask’s strongest attributes/flavors?
Rampur Double Cask’s strongest flavors are its tropical fruits. I’ve never had a whiskey that has such bold fruit flavors but is incredibly well-balanced.
Is Rampur Double Cask a go-to whisky?
Even though Rampur Double Cask is a $90 bottle, I could absolutely see this being a go-to whiskey of mine. I would drink this bottle way too easily and need to keep buying more as long as my local liquor store stocks it fast enough.
That being said, it is a $90 bottle. As much as I’d love to have this bottle as my daily sipper, I would have to reserve this one for special occasions or when I’m really trying to have myself a treat.
Not only does Rampur Double Cask smell and taste amazing, but it reminds me of a delicious candy treat to cap off a great day.
Is Rampur Double Cask priced accurately to its quality?
Rampur Double Cask does actually deliver on its price tag. It is absolutely delicious.
Some of my favorite Scotch Whisky are Balvenie and Oban. This bottle absolutely reminds me of those two but with an additional layer of candied fruit on top.

If you find this bottle on the shelf, absolutely pick it up.
Rampur Double Cask is one of the best surprises I have found in quite a while.
While it’s a little bit pricey, it is a delicious treat that I can honestly say is unlike any whiskey I have ever had before.
I’m likely going to compare this bottle with some of my top 10 whiskeys and see if it knocks any out of their spots – that’s how good it is.
