Is Belle Meade Reserve an Approachable Whiskey?

Belle Meade Reserve is an extremely welcoming whiskey. Right off the bat, you get hit with dark fruits, caramel, and oak flavors followed by cinnamon and spice. While it does have some heat with the 108.3 proof, I think it’s a whiskey that beginners and experienced whiskey drinkers will appreciate.

Is Belle Meade Reserve Complex?

Belle Meade Reserve is a pleasant surprise. I immediately enjoyed it on my first sip. What stood out to me most was the dark fruit flavors that I got paired with the caramel and oak. I feel like this bourbon has an extra layer of flavor that maybe adds cherry or plum flavors to the mix.

Also, I got a bit of a lighter fruit note on the finish that makes me think of apricots or oranges. That mixed with the cinnamon and spices, I think Belle Meade Reserve got it right with this batch.

What are Belle Meade Reserve’s strongest attributes/flavors?

Belle Meade Reserve has dark fruit flavors that really stood out to me. I noticed them right away on the first sip and I think this is the standout quality I’m getting with this bottle.

Is Belle Meade Reserve a go-to whiskey?

I could drink Belle Meade Reserve as my go-to whiskey for sure. It is a little bit pricey at $60 but boy could I drink this one fast.

Is Belle Meade Reserve priced accurately to its quality?

While I wish Belle Meade Reserve were in the $40-45 price range, I do think it delivers on its price tag. Even though it’s a blend, the combination they got with this bottle is excellent.

Conclusion for Belle Meade Reserve

This is a bottle that I picked up on a whim. I had a glass of Belle Meade when I was in Kentucky and remembered the name, so when I saw it on the shelf here in Pennsylvania I grabbed it up. Oddly enough, it was labeled under Nelson Bros (which I also have a bottle of), but nonetheless, it delivers.

If you see a bottle of this on the shelf at your local liquor store, I would say that it is worth the price tag if you are looking to spend a little bit extra on your bourbon.
