Visiting the Bella Bambini Distillery

I picked up this bottle at a local Lemoncello distillery in my area called Bella Bambini Distillery.

It was a small place in Coraopolis, Pennsylvania and we originally went to taste their Cello offerings.

We tasted with their Lemoncello, Orangecello, Pineapplecello, Berrycello, and Cafecello.

My favorite of the group was the Orangecello so we purchased a bottle of that to bring home.

Chris let us taste both the 756 Straight Bourbon Whiskey as well as this bottle of 756 Bourbon Straight From The Barrel.

I immediately knew I enjoyed the higher-proof Straight From The Barrel offering so we purchased the bottle I am reviewing now.

So let’s get into the review!

Is 756 Bourbon Straight From The Barrel an Approachable Whiskey?

756 Bourbon Straight From The Barrel is their high-proof whiskey that is significantly more bold and flavorful than the standard release.

While it packs a punch, it is backed up by bold flavors and a strong finish.

This is a whiskey for more experienced drinkers. Beginners will likely be knocked back a bit by the proof on this one.

Is 756 Bourbon Straight From The Barrel Complex?

756 Bourbon Straight From The Barrel is a pretty straightforward bourbon whiskey but it does have some nice layers and complexity.

On the nose, it has a very nice sweet brown sugar and cinnamon smell with hints of rye spice and quite a bit of toasted oak.

The palate is much deeper and hits you with rich flavors that stand out on each layer.

The most prominent is still the honey and brown sugar cinnamon toast profile which I enjoy.

Once the initial flavors pass, the rye spice and peppery notes shine through with a subtle layer of citrus.

What are 756 Bourbon Straight From The Barrel’s strongest attributes/flavors?

The finish is where this bottle shines.

I’m a fan of big and bold flavors which this Straight From The Barrel delivers.

I tasted their standard straight bourbon whiskey at the Bella Bambini distillery and the straight from the barrel was an easy decision to purchase.

The flavors stick around on your palate for a long time and the mouthfeel is quite nice and full.

Is 756 Bourbon Straight From The Barrel a go-to whisky?

756 Bourbon Straight From The Barrel is a unique release with a bit of heat on it so it’s a bottle I will likely reserve for special occasions, especially since it is my souvenir of visiting the Bella Bambini distillery.

I enjoyed my trip there and this was an excellent bottle to purchase alongside their Orangecello.

Is 756 Bourbon Straight From The Barrel priced accurately to its quality?

I think this bottle of 756 Bourbon Straight From The Barrel is accurately priced.

For $85, you get a high-proof bourbon that is packed with flavor and it is a fair price from a small local distillery.

Conclusion for 756 Bourbon Straight From The Barrel

Bella Bambini Distillery mostly sells Cellos so I was a little surprised to see this bottle of 756 Bourbon Straight From The Barrel being sold there.

After I tasted it, I asked where the distillate comes from and they said that it was from Texas which likely explains some of the distinct flavor profiles I’m tasting in this one.

Overall, this is a solid bottle of whiskey and I’m happy to have a bottle of this one straight from the barrel.

It was an excellent experience at the Bella Bambini Distillery and this was a perfect souvenir of my experience there!

*Notes from the owner John Potter:

The 756 came from his address when he attended West Virginia University and his original hometown state.

Also, he placed the state tree of Pennsylvania on the bottle, the Eastern Hemlock, to represent the state he currently resides in.

Very cool to see my home state of Pennsylvania breaking back into the whiskey scene and that he combined his two homes into the branding and label on the bottle!
