1792 Small Batch Tasting Notes

Palate: Butterscotch, caramel apples, light pepper, rye spice
Finish: Medium finish with a bit of heat – leaves you with mostly pepper and spice
Is 1792 Small Batch an Approachable Whiskey?
1792 Small Batch is not particularly an approachable whiskey.
It leaves a lot of heat on each sip and finishes off with a heavy pepper and spice which would likely turn off new whiskey drinkers quickly.
Is 1792 Small Batch Complex?
1792 isn’t particularly complex. It has a few of the traditional bourbon characteristics that shine through like butterscotch, caramel, vanilla, and a little oak, but overall it doesn’t have a ton of any particular note.
What are 1792 Small Batch’s strongest attributes/flavors?
My favorite attribute of 1792 would be its nose. It has an excellent light fruit note that reminds me of caramel apples at the local carnival. However, when I take a sip I don’t really get those same flavors.
Is 1792 Small Batch a go-to whiskey?
1792 is a $35 bottle which would be right in the go-to whiskey price range, but I just don’t find this to be a pour that I would drink on a regular basis.
Is 1792 Small Batch priced accurately to its quality?
At the $35 price point, I think 1792 is a bit overpriced for its quality. There are better options in this price range like Elijah Craig, Wild Turkey 101, and Old Forester 100.
Conclusion for 1792 Small Batch
1792 Small Batch is a bottle that looks really nice on the shelf and gives the appearance of being an expensive whiskey, but I am not particularly impressed with it.
I will say that I really enjoy the nose on this one, but its flavor just doesn’t deliver for me.
